Love the tomato plant sale!

Wonderful class. Master Gardeners gave very clear information and instructions and demonstrations. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. What fun!

Wonderful, helpful gardening resource for home gardeners in Contra Costa County. A demonstration garden on site, free gardening advice over the phone (M - TH 9 am - 12 noon), free Wednesday AM gardening classes (April -Oct), and can sign up to receive a monthly gardening email. Many of the Master Gardeners Volunteers speak from their own personal gardening experiences living in the area. There is a twice-a-year plant sale in the Spring for tomatoes, herbs, and vegetables at $3 each and in the Fall for perennials. During the Spring they propagated 20,000 tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and vegetable (squashes, beans, asparagus, artichokes, eggplants, spinach, etc) plants for the Great Tomato Plant Sale. Many of the popular tomato plants sell out quickly. Their Sales are very popular. You have to come early (Sale is from 10 am - 2 pm) for the best selection. People wait in line starting at 7:30 am to be sure to get what they are looking for. Parking is free in the Shadelands Art Center parking lot. Cash or check only. The garden and sale are #HandicappedFriendly #DogFriendly #KidFriendly

A beautiful demonstration garden, established to educate the public about responsible gardening in accordance with U.C. research.

The garden on Shadelands Dr is a demonstration garden for U.C. Master Gardeners of Contra Costa. Produce is donated to food banks such as the Monument Crisis Center. There are no public plots; however, the public may visit on Wednesday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon. There is usually a free gardening class at 10am. More information is on our website.
No, the garden is only open to the public Wed mornings
It depends! If the lawn is Bermuda grass or another weedy grass you may need to dig it up. Otherwise you can try covering it up with cardboard and then putting mulch on top. Depriving the grass of light should kill it.
