Summary: If you know anything about cars, beware of extra charges. My Jetta 2.5 SE had been driven more than 128k miles WITHOUT a 3rd tail light bulb due to the difference in trim models (only 2 bulbs originally from factory) I brought it in to VW for the trunk tail light suddenly stopped working. I replaced the FUSES & BULBS without any results. To save myself from further frustration, I had VW troubleshoot due to time constraints and the lack of a fuse diagram online. PROS: - They took my car in without any appointments. Granted, it was a simple fix. -it looks like they gave my car a quick wash -A recall was fixed during the visit CONS: - I was charged for the part used for the recall. Aren't recalls free of charge? -$70 for diagnosis was fine. However, adding the "MISSING" 3rd light bulb that was not meant to be installed, magically made everything work does not add up. I asked the technician on what exactly changed and he couldn't exactly point out the issue. -The story kept changing. The representative said it was a burnt fuse. I told them that I replaced the fuse and they changed their story again. I asked for proof but the burnt fuse was "thrown out". No it wasn't. The technician admitted to not touching the FUSES at all. I checked after leaving the dealership, same fuses were installed. -They also claimed my bulbs were burnt out. Another made up story. The burnt out bulb was removed before the visit and was in my possession. No bulbs were burnt out considering I installed new ones 30 minutes prior visiting the dealership. Questionable...
