The e-ticket system to let people get in line to renew their driver's licenses in Johnson County is COMPLETELY broken. It issues an e-ticket, but when you get to the door, there is a security guard there turning people away and telling them that the e-tickets mean nothing.

If your license is going to expire, yes you need to get a new one. Driving with an expired license is illegal and will cause you a headache if you get pulled over. All you need to bring to get it renewed is a utility bill with your name and current address on it, or a letter from the Kansas department of revenue will work too.

When you go into the office, make sure you have required indentification documents and tell them you have lost your driver's license. They will instruct you further.

I recently got my KS license after moving from out of state. I did not need to take any tests. However make sure you have ALL THE PAPERWORK they require, and it is a lot. SSN, marriage license, banking statements, electrical bill, old driver license, passport, etc... If you don't have 100% of what they require you WILL get turned away.

You need an appointment for everything. Just download the QLess app (I believe for Android or iOS) to get in line. Just bake sure you enter early in the day and expect that the estimated time is far longer than the actual time. It might suggest you have 4 hours when you really have 30 minutes.

You probably want to call Topeka, specifically the treasury. My wife had to do this, and it was kind of a hassle. Each state has different requirements.

If you are talking getting your mail then go to the post office for address change. If you mean for a new license then go to the dmv and tell them you moved.

A birth certificate should suffice. They definitely won't take a photo of your ID for any reason. A passport works also.

She cant renew it early. Had to be either the day if her birthday or after. She gets a 45 day extension in the computer because she cant renew early. The extension is for 21 year olds only. Everybody else expires midnight on yoir birthday

Is the name you want on your driver's license your legal name or a preferred name? Particularly with new compliance laws, the license bureau may only be able to print your legal name on the license. If they have misprinted your legal name, I'd go back to the license bureau with all applicable documents so they can issue you a corrected license.
