It’s official! This is the worst place ever. This is my second time coming and being disappointed with my overall experience. I would give no stars but to give a review I have to put this down. So, the first picture you see is the so called shrimp and grits! Where should I start: it was clumpy, dry, no seasoning, and such a small amount for a high price. Then you have the second picture which was the so called famous pasta. Not sure what was so famous because it was poorly seasoned, tasted like flour and over cooked shrimp. The water tasted like sink water unfiltered. All the food was warm or cold. Nothing was hot. For a $225 tab we should have had an amazing dine and we did not. I would advise you to not go here and find a better place to wine and dine. Because I promise you this not it. The only thing that was a hit was the live band. The place was better when I use to come before the pandemic. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

Great entertainment! But it stops there, the server wasn't helpful at all. The food was cold and had no flavor, the manager was very nice though. This is a good place to only go and watch the band and have cocktails

Great evening dinner atmosphere. Surprised my hubby for his Birthday and Retirement by eating dinner here. Our dinner was delicious, waiter was attentive, music was excellent (R&B and Jazz Vocalist on this particular evening). We’ll be back!

Visiting Atlanta this weekend for the Maxwell concert. This was our first stop. The atmosphere was nice, I really enjoyed the live band however, the food and drinks not so much. We ordered the catfish and fried green tomatoes which were good. I ordered a Mojito that taste like sugar water, very weak. My husband ordered a beer can't really mess that up. Then we ordered our main dishes. I had the pulled pork and slaw. It had no seasoning in it at all, none. The bbq sauce had a strange taste to it so that didn't help. Slaw was dry it was just shredded cabbage and collards. My husband ordered the ribs mac n cheese and mash potatoes. He ate a couple of bites of each and that was that. The fries were really good though. Maybe it was an off night, we'll try again next time we're in town.

There's a dance floor for just that reason. We want everyone to eat, drink, jam!
No not if you're sitting at the bar but if you want a table it's a $5 charge
Sorry to hear that. The bands are usually really good too. You could try City Winery as an alternative venue. They offer dinner and live music as well.
No you do not have to, but to keep from having a long wait time and standing for a long time, it was best mke reservations two weeks in advance. That is how fast they would book up.
Wish I knew. I've only dined there for dinner.
The place is simply ...AWESOME! A taste of the south in the heart of ATL. The food was ddelicious and the live band was spectacular. Will visit again and again.
We visited the place two weeks ago. We got in with Jeans and tennis
I would definitely make a reservation. It gets busy
This place is amazing and yes I believe there is jazz music every night. This music is phenomenal by the way. May want to check what time the band comes on, just in case they are on a break when you arrive.
Laid back casual attire...I saw a lot of jeans, boots, blouses, sweaters, dresses, jumpsuits, and I saw people dressed up. It gets warm inside quick. Atmosphere is nice, try to reserve a table to cut back on your wait time. You'll enjoy yourself!
Yes you can. There may be slight obstructions in the private sitting area.
There are parking garages right across the street, but parking will cost you anything from $9.00 to $20.00 depending what day and time you go and how long you stay.
You have to order something at the bar or at a table. Dancing available
They do tend to staff on the lean side. Glad you stil enjoyed it though..
IMO, most restaurants don't have live bands so at SGJJ they tack on $5 to help pay the band. It's not a lot when you consider the price of concert tickets these days. Some of the ban'ds aren't stellar but they do entertain...
The service was great! I was disappointed at having to pay $5 for the band, for not having a reservation! The band was playing when we went in, played one very short song and went somewhere for a while and when we were about to leave, they returned!!! As far as food and service, it's a great place to visit... Just make sure you have reservations!!!
We had six people and they wouldn't do reservations. First come, first serve. But it didn't take long to get seated. We got there at 6:00 p.m.
Everday if the week is live music! The hottest days for musoc is Friday and Saturday nights. Check it out for a great time in Downtown Atlanta!
They are not open
It was a casual to a dressy as you'd like. I wouldn't recommend t shirts or shorts, but you won't be turned around because of it. There's a live band, so many ppl dress up like Chicago steppers when they visit. At the very least I'd recommend business casual 😊
They started at 5 pm this past Saturday.
Im not sure. That was my first time going and my guest and I didn't have reservations.
No valet & no street parking. Self park at nearest garage about 2 block away.
Not..but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem...I would call ahead.
No unless you go on Sunday or late night and can find a spot on Ellis St. They dont check the meters after hours but street parking is scarce.
You can bring kids but it's the kind of restaurant that doesn't have a kid's menu. It's more of a dimly-lit night club w a live jazz band.
I wish I could give you a more definitive answer, I got there well past 9pm. Therefore I'm unable to answer your question
Even though it is called a "Juke Joint" casual wear is suitable. This is a nice place for good food and music..as well as dancing. Enjoyable and Always a crowd.
They typically answer the phone during the day. I recommend making a reservation using open table. I used it on my last visit and find it to be convenient.
The grits are awesome
The parking garage call first there is a parking garage that Sweet Georgia gives a $6 discount too..
Valet is $10. You can also get parking validated for $6 in the parking deck on Carnegie.
I always try to reserve a table a week or more in advance. Open Table won't let you make weekend reservations you have to call the restaurant.
You call in maybe a day or so prior to arrival if possible. The earlier the better in regards to reserving a table. One call, that's all...
Yes. My 7 yo loves it. But I wouldn't have my kid there past 10 pm
I'm going to assume you meant 12/25/17. According to their website, they are closed today.
You can either park in the parking garage on that street or you can do street parking
Yes, if you park in the deck at 150 Carnegie Way, on your way out, the host stand will validate your ticket so you'll pay $5. One hack to note: if it says $6, take ticket out & turn it around... then it will say $5. Every dollar counts! No valet parking at this time.
No, there is no peanut oil used at SGJJ's kitchen. Only a canola/veg. oil blend.
I would say yes. We had 7 and had to make a reservation 2 weeks before for a Friday night.
So they do have a performer with the last name Gulley
No we don't, sorry.
