A wonderful place to step back in time! Set your political beliefs aside and soak in the history in this very beautiful museum. Truman truly was a President that made differences in the world and worth knowing more about...you'll learn so much with just one visit.

Looks like a nice place to visit. God Bless the Truman family for their service to our nation.

Beautiful place. Squeaky clean. Staff was super friendly. The souvenir store was great. Be aware - masks required, no food/drink. Military free! But price is about $15 and donations are accepted. Pass is for all day, so you can leave for lunch (we went to subway across the street) and come back. Lots to see!

Hello there, I would allow 2 1/2 to 3 hours to really absorb all that there is to see.
So Truman library is closed this year and will there be a cost when they open back up

In my opinion, Truman has the best Presidential Library in the country. I would plan on at least one full day, if not two, to see everything.
Yes there is bus and RV parking in a lot to the west of the library.
It is open 7 days a week, with shortened hours on Sunday. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's day.
No, it's not run by a federal agency, but a private nonprofit foundation (as are all the presidential libraries). The nearby home where Harry and Bess lived for many years is maintained by the National Park Service, though, and your pass will get you a 50% discount on the guided tours led by a ranger. You have to get tickets in advance at the Truman Home NPS office in historic downtown Independence around the corner from the home.
Linda must have been referring to "Trump's alternative facts " thought we were talking about Truman.
They do have an interactive exhibit about his decision to relieve McArthur of his command, as they do for other controversial decisions Truman had to make. Basically "what would you do?"
