They scheduled my 8 year old for surgery at 10 am, didn’t even bring her back into the room until 2:30 pm while she had not eaten since the evening before. She was starving, scared, sad and anxious. As we were verbally assaulted by the condescending receptionist, Deborah Centeno, who calls herself an “advocate” yet does nothing to advocate for patients. She was extremely rude, interrupted us while speaking, and has absolutely zero communication or personal skills when working with families. We cleared with the nurses prior to the appointment for both of her parents to be in the room with her, only to be told at the last minute it was no longer an option. As the woman proceeds to argue with me in front of my child that she doesn’t care what the nurses said, she will not allow it. While my daughter proceeds to cry, they then tell her other parent they are not even allowed to wait on the floor they must wait outside in the pouring rain. While I asked the anesthesiologist to step out of the room for a minute to regain my composure, she said that was okay. When I did so, Deborah again verbally berated me and told me I was not allowed to leave attacking my parenting skills. This was an absolutely horrible experience on top of what is already a terrifying experience with my daughter having surgery. If you can find another hospital. Do it.
