Update to my review from a few months ago. We were fortunate and lucky to be treated by Dr. Calbay again. Our dog was suffering many bouts of vomiting since yesterday. A colleague of mine treated our dog earlier in the day, and Dr. Calbay confirmed that his treatment plan was legit. She proceeded with a blood test and fluids. Thank you again to Dr. Calbay and team for their outstanding work and treatment of our dog. Last Review: Thank you to the excellent staff (Dr. Calbay & Becky) at VCA Lakewood, CA for taking us in at 3-4am this morning. Our dog came in from outside with half her face swollen and we called several 24/7 vets who were totally booked including our usual vet at VCA fountain valley. VCA Lakewood was only 20 minutes away from our house, and Becky at front desk assessed our situation and quickly gave us the blessing to come in at 3am. Dr. Calbay was the Dr. today and was outstanding. She took so much time to speak with us and was thorough in every regard. To find someone so thorough and on point at 3am is an extremely rare find. You can tell she cares a lot about animals and loves her job. She is a great asset to their team there. There might be some negative reviews of this place, but I would not shut them down completely. Covid has created a surge of demand with vet clinics and many have been understaffed. If you have the choice, work with the good vets that they have. Dr. Calbay was thorough and outstanding and I can't praise her enough.

Me and my boyfriend were referred to this hospital for an emergency that we had with our 4 month kitten. They immediately took our kitten in and took them out of our sight while we were singing in and explaining to them our issue. My boyfriend felt as though he didn't get enough time with the doctor. Once the financer came in he explained to us that the x-rays we were given weren't of a high enough resolution and that they would have to redo them AS WELL as the blood work that was already done at the other facility. The estimated us at about 2,100-2,500 just to diagnose the issue !!! Then treatment would have been between 4,500-6,000. Needless to say we called around and found a place that is charging us 2,500 for the whole procedure Inculding x-rays, and diagnostic, and treatment. Screw this place. They really just care about money. It was also 137 dollars just for the exam and 65 dollars for oxygen that they supposedly gave the kitten in triage. The finances mentioned that they wouldn't do anything to my kitten without permission and notice of price. My kitten had no need for oxygen and was breathing just fine. Don't go her. Go to South Gate Dog and Cat hospital. $27 for an exam and they were wonderful and caring ❤️. VCA lakewood sucks.

We called at 5:00 PM about a tooth that our dog fractured and required immediate attention. We were declined service, and I understand dental can be difficult. So, we instead asked for advice on what we can do to move forward with such injury. The lady was super rude and just said "No, nothing." We clarified and asked if there were additional information they knew to help us like what we can do to ease pain, or anything basically. But, she still insisted there was nothing. Very unprofessional. Might need a new receptionist...She could of at least gave us advice.. We may have had a great experience here, but were basically shut out before we even had a chance.

It depends on the illness of your puppy, but about 4 thousand dlls have hand, porq are very expensive and the truth I had very bad experience, they go more for the economic than for the health of our puppies

Was wanting to know the price on feline flea shampoo'd I have three that needs to be done?

Im not sure if they do that. They are a very busy high price vet. I would look into say PetCo or PetSmart or maybe a mobile dog groomer. If VCA does do that I am sure it would cost you more then say a Dog Groomer. Other then that if you don't mind sitting around and waiting and if you don't mind rude vet techs/staff then its a nice place to hang out with other pet owners seeing how you have to wait you get to know the people sitting and waiting also.

You can start by asking a licenced medical professional and stop asking for medical advice on Google Local Guides. Take your dog(s) to a Veterinarian..
