Sylvan Learning of Westlake Village

Had a friend recommend Sylvan to us. We decided to try it out after the COVID shutdown and seeing our daughter struggle with some school work. We wanted to ensure she mastered skills that she had fallen behind on between 3rd and 4th grade. Sylvan completed their initial assessment of her strengths and weaknesses, then put together a plan that would help our daughter. All the instructors are amazing and the small group format works wonderfully. Sylvan makes learning fun and enjoyable! Joy, the director, is very involved. She is very caring and supportive. Sylvan has made it possible for our daughter to be better prepared for 5th grade and excited to learn! Thank you Sylvan family!

Working at Sylvan has been a wonderful experience so far. I am excited about walking into the classroom each day to teach and help students develop their academic skills. As a teacher, I can confirm that we are all skilled professionals and thoroughly trained in order to work with students and to provide them with the best possible education here at Sylvan. All of the teachers and staff are also wonderful and caring people who want the best for each student. After struggling academically due to the COVID shutdown, we decided to enroll our teen daughter at Sylvan over the summer. We wanted her to master skills that she had fallen behind on. Initially, they did an assessment to find out her strengths and weaknesses, and put together a plan. At first my daughter did not want to attend, but it did not take long for her to actually enjoy going, and even asked to go more often. The instructors are amazing and she loves the small group format (never more than 3 students per instructor). They make learning fun, and she feels supported by everyone there! The director, Joy, is very involved and has already scheduled two progress reports in the first four weeks. Clarissa has been great to work with regarding scheduling. Overall, she has a greater desire to learn, is more engaged, and her academic confidence has improved. We feel that because of Sylvan, she is much better prepared for the upcoming school year, during which she will continue to attend to receive support for homework, studying, and organizational skills.
