You absolutely cannot get anyone on the phone. You get an automated message and then get hung up on. However, I was able to get a quick response via email. You are supposed to make an appointment but there are none available for a long time, which I find hard to believe. But through my email query I was told I could go as a walk in. My wait may be longer though, which I am okay with. The gentleman at the door could have been a lot nicer to my husband and me. He asked if I had an appointment and I said I was unable to make one but was told via email that I could come as a walk in since all I needed was a temporary handicap tag. He made a snide remark about coming back on Saturday(this place is closed on the weekends, by the way) but I explained that I have a broken foot and he could see I am on crutches. Also, my husband is working that day so I needed to get the tag now. He said that was fine since that's all I needed but every other time we need an appointment. He then asked us to empty our pockets and checked my purse. We said "no problem" and complied. It is a government facility after all. But we did find it odd later that he didn't ask others coming in after us to do the same. Anyway, he then continued to go on about how those were the rules and if we didn't like them we could leave. Again, we said "no problem, Sir. We understand, " and thanked him for letting us in. Was that really necessary? We did what he said with no argument and were very polite and compliant. However, the young lady at the front desk was very courteous and polite. She gave us our ticket and we didn't wait long to be called. The process to get my tag took maybe five minutes. Everything other than the front door gentleman was okay. We felt very unwelcomed because of him. I have never had an issue at this place before this.

The attention is very unfriendly. They do not treat the general public well. From the security personnel to the last person who attends. It seems that it is part of their policy.
