I have recently lost my father and am looking for direction as to how to apply for his service headstone and how to find out if he is even eligible for it. Iowa national guard 2 years early 1970s. Don't know much of it other than platoon and base.

The only way we could claim my Mother in Law was if she lived "under our roof," or that percentage of the year we were responsible for her care and keeping. If your custody issue has resulted from a divorce, you will need to consult the court decree to determine what, if any, amount you can claim. BUT with anything concerning tax issues, I strongly urge you to consult the IRS Tax Hotline. The IRS has a bank of 800 numbers you can call just for this purpose...FAQs.

There is a state program called Iowa Veteran's Trust Fund that may be able to assist with home repairs. Please come in to the office for us to be able to assist you further.
