We booked a trip with several family members back in December and prepaid for the first night to hold our reservation. Now, a month before our upcoming visit (to the day) I get a message saying the rates have increased dramatically -- almost 60 percent for a tent site. Seems like shady business dealings, considering there are other reviews saying the same thing has happened to them over the last several months with this late notice. My family has been coming to Cape Kiwandee RV for over 25 years. I reserved 6 sites on 10/25/2021 for a week in June. I received a call less than a month prior to our vacation stating the prices had increased. For the 6 spots the increase was $3100. There was no negotiating as well as no time to find another place to stay. We supported this place through the pandemic when there was no pool or playground by still coming to stay. I was told there were improvements to the cabins by adding 2 bikes and a barbecue. I could buy a lot of bikes and barbecues for $3k. The new owners have a monopoly on Cape Kiwandee now so they can charge whatever price they want. It is sad to see a family tradition of ours end. Needless to say, we cancelled all 6 reservations and our family is now without a summer vacation.

The new owners are making a ton of effort to renovate this spot and it’s in an ideal location. Great sense of community and respect among the folks staying there. Quiet and protected from the strong winds. Some of the older negative comments in reviews are not relevant now.

Not only is this place extremely expensive, but staff members are rude and unappreciative of your business. The young “proud” girl in the store certainly has an agenda and is a detriment to the business with an incredibly bad and unprofessional attitude.
