To renew real ID you need to make appointment. All details there. I believe they only asking to bring old DL that it's not expired..and yes cash is accepted..

To be honest with you, going in person with no appointment is your best bet. I say that because appointments can take a month or months. Also, make sure you have all your documents in order and if you can go in the morning, it's the slowest time of the day.

You just have to go DMV office with your two different residential address proof, your photo Id(which may be ur passport or anything). And as u said u moved out of state in that case I'm not sure other state DMV can give u CA driving licence but they can give u that state DL.

I went yesterday for my real id card. No appointment needed. Make sure you have uploaded all the documents online and got the confirmation number with the stop sign. Go to DMV and go to the appointment line and a person outside will check your originals and give you a number. A message will be send to you mobile with the number and you can wait for the next message which says which window to go to. I got the second message in 15 minutes. Entire process took 39 to 45 minutes for me.good luck.

Go to edlapp.dmv.ca.gov.5 and upload all the documents, they will give you a confirmation number then go to the dmv and show it to them. That's what I did.

They have put all drive tests on hold till July 31st. You can still walk in for any other services.

Generally they insist on an appointment. You should take a date anyway and then call to check if someone cancelled an appointment and allow you to come in instead. It's a long shot but worth a try.

Concentrate on your drivers licence first...then go for the registration. Also, you need to do the smog test and pass before you register your vehicle. One more thing, be prepared to spend $200 for your tag.

Apply for a duplicate licence. Fill up the application and visit the DMV for fingerprints & payment. You'll get a 90-day interim DL until you receive your licence in a couple of weeks.

No. Behind the wheel driving tests are done only by appointment at any DMV, not just San Mateo. There is a significant wait time but if you can afford to travel further, try booking an appointment in Oakland or somewhere further out and you'll get an earlier date. Alternatively, you could call them up periodically and check if anyone cancelled and if they could accommodate you instead. All the best!
