No sizes above XL?? How can you sell books about people in bigger bodies hiking but you don’t sell the sizes that most of us wear? Average size is 14/16 but the large majority of your clothes are much smaller. Come on!

I’ve been an REI member as long as I can remember. Came in the store tonight to attempt a return for some discoloration on footwear, that I do not think was my fault. They are water shoes, yet I was accused of spilling something on them. False. Off water stains on 3 week old footwear. But that’s not the point. One employee could’ve declined the return, instead he called over not one but two other employees to all mock and embarrass me over the return in front of other customers, they even seemed to enjoy it. One was store manager, one team lead and a part time employee would I later learned was an off duty police officer. Unreal. I felt interrogated by all 3 and then humiliated. I was in there preparing for a weekend camping trip, REI is literally my favorite store in the world. I’ve spent tens of thousands of hard earned cash there. And will continue to just not in their Richmond store. The way these three employees treated me was disgraceful. I will never return to this location, they lost a sale and a customer. Stu, Jonathan and Keith were the employees, im calling you out, you should be ashamed and need some more customer service training. I reported the incident to corporate because no one needs to feel a lack of dignity for expressing their opinion over their dissatisfaction with a product, especially considering the the shoes were only 3 weeks old. They were my second pair, the last ones lasted years and never had this problem with water stains. Hope everyone’s experience is better than mine. I’ll stick to the REI in Atlanta where I have never been treated like a public laughing stock.

I had an amazing experience looking for hiking shoes today! Kathy and Allison were SO helpful! Kathy asked questions to filter down exactly what kind of shoes I needed and she gave me GREAT advice. They both were very invested in helping me and giving me the best advice. I would shop here again just to get help from them!
