I hate leaving poor reviews for small businesses, but I’m really disappointed in my first and last experience with Reed Arts. My parents sold our childhood home after owning it for 42 years and I had a custom watercolor commissioned, which I brought to Reed for framing more than a month in advance. I chose a two mats (white and hunter green, nothing special) with a brown frame, all simple and non-descript, for delivery by 6/11/22 so that I could wrap it and travel out of town for a Father’s Day celebration on 6/18. I didn’t hear anything and called to check on it 6/7. I got a message back that materials were back ordered, but should be in hand at the beginning of the following week (6/13). I called again on 6/15, and nothing had been done. The Reed team had no firm updates, no plan, and offered no alternatives. I understand back orders, but I would have really appreciated some proactive management of this order. I had communicated the deadline and purpose clearly when I dropped off the picture a month in advance. I asked that they pack up my art for pickup immediately and when I showed up the employee helping me said “I’m sorry you were a victim of one of our vendors.” Again I understand back orders in the current supply chain environment, but that was a cop out. They had it for a month. I would have REALLY appreciated some proactive management of this project considering they knew the details and could have offered literally any other mat and frame setup that met the basic requirements. Fortunately for me, Longenbaker framing right down the street saved the day. I walked in at 2pm on 6/15, told them my issue, and they had it back to me in 24 hours. No joke. The picture was framed beautifully, they recommended (and came through with) better materials than what Reed offered, and they charged me less than what I had paid Reed to do. See my review on their page for a pic. The customer service at Longenbaker was night and day from what I got from Reed. Just go there instead.

Reed float-mounted a large watercolor for me. It is simple, with no-glare glass, and beautiful.

Erica at Reed Arts has done an amazing job for us again— this time with a huge 3’ x 5’ flag framing. Despite such a large and expensive project, we had the utmost confidence working with Erica and knew it would turn out great. She is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and kind— all the qualities epitomizing a five star experience. If you have an important piece of art to frame, go to Reed!
