Beautiful location and convenient to shopping center. Marie (Property Manager) and Jeff (Facilities Manager) are both professional and friendly. I recommend living here

We love our apartment at the Dunes. The location is amazing! Right across the street from the beach, walking distance to Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Walgreens, TJ Maxx, the Post Office. Literally everything you need down the street, super close to Oakland and SF. Rebecca the property manager is the sweetest. Very communicative, always follows up if there is an issue in the unit. Phi & Jeff the maintenance guys are so nice. Always willing to help out. I’ve lived in other apartment buildings where you feel like just another number but this place feels like home for sure. :)

Really poorly managed, dirty, and overpriced. Any ratings above 3 stars on here must be from friends of the owners or paid reviews. They have gone through numerous apartment managers over the years. Apparently, this is because the owner's son, Spencer, is very difficult to work for. This makes sense, as he is a really horrible landlord-extremely greedy and completely lacking any compassion, not to mention, a bit of a control freak. They will charge you as much as they possibly can and later you will find out that the person down the hall with the same apartment who rented within a few months of you is paying 300 less. The rent will be raised every year by the maximum allowable amount. Naturally, as long as someone will pay it, it's the market rate. Prop M1 would have helped, so the landlords took devious steps to make sure that it was not passed. That's another story. Not only is it overpriced, but is dirty, has serious plumbing issues (think sewage in the main parking lot), has no pedestrian entrance, and is located next to a bowling alley (so if the sound of hip hop on cheap but large speakers appeals to you, you might like it, providing that you also like the fact that someone was shot in the same parking lot a year or two ago not 20 feet from one part of the building). The facilities are often broken (the pool heater is often inoperable for months on end). The laundry machines are always broken and smell like wet dog constantly due to the fact that people wash their dog beds in them. The "fitness center" is actually a treadmill, bike, and stair climber in a small room. People wonder in off the street and steal packages. Many of the tenants have severe mildew problems, which the landlord blames on them (though there is nothing they can do about it). There are much better buildings with much more professional management. I give it 1 star because I cannot give it 0 and because the location is pretty good.
