Nothing but positives based on my experience with Star - I had a whole house generator installed at my home in addition to a pool heater which required a large tank and significant tunneling for pipes to be laid. The team at Star handled everything from connections, working with electricians, procuring and burying a massive propane tank under my lawn to walking me through the entire process. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and detail-oriented individuals - they continue to be a real pleasure - a very strong recommendation!

Jeffrey, thanks for your question. Yes we do fill RV tanks. Please call the office at 845-452-8400 to find out when it’s best to visit for a fill. You aren’t mentioning the size of your camper, but with the garage fire we had last weekend - parking is a bit tight. Feel free to ask for Melissa or Cindy. Hope you have a great time with the camper...we’ve always wanted to rent one of these!
Star Gas doesn't charge tank rental fees or use contracts. However, just like all propane companies we do have annual "minimum use" fee. You can call our office for details or ask one of our sales people to explain the details.
Hi Ernest. We deal with giving you an estimate on where tanks go, what size, and connections. We don’t sell furnaces (in part because of box stores, internet, and warranties) but have vendors we trust or can work with yours. Rich or Lou at our office will be able to answer all your questions. Henry, if a tank is old and needs to be reinspected, Star Gas charges $7.51 for the DOT inspection and 15$ to fill the 20 lb BBQ tank.
Hi Meredith - you can call the Poughkeepsie or Kingston office for the hours to drop off your tanks for filling. 845-452-8400 or 339-8400. Pls keep in mind that we may be busy prior to the holidays, so be sure to visit us prior to 5pm. We are not open on Saturdays.
No, sorry we are not. However, if you are able to drop off your tank on weekdays (8 am on...) we could have your tank ready for pickup at 4:45 pm (we close at 5pm). Call the Poughkeepsie or Kingston office for more details. Hope you have a great weekend.
Hi Steve, sorry for the delay. Our regulatory compliance fee covers quite few things: staff education and certifications, Dept of Transportation compliance, state and federal (think Homeland Security) requirements. There are new rules in place that must be followed (especially since 9-11) to ensure everyone's safety. What is included may change from year to year depending on the need. This fee is not unique to propane companies, other companies may call it an "environmental fee". Every year, Star Gas must comply with a lot of state and federal rules. I'm sorry for the increase, I'm hoping you are on auto-delivery. This will ensure you get the best pricing. When you first signed up as a customer, you should have received paperwork about what is included in our fee schedules.
