I was skeptical when I first traveled over this bridge. After further investigation, performs as advertised. 5 stars. Definitely will cross again.

I t seems that the south bound side is narrower than the north bound side. If true, by how much, and why?

Correct. The northbound side is wider; this was done in order to accommodate a shared-use walking path connecting the walking trail systems in Newburyport and Amesbury. The walking path will run along the Eastern edge of the span, with a scenic overlook and interpretive panels for pedestrian use. A concrete divider will separate pedestrian traffic from vehicles on the roadway.
