We love the Franklin Animal shelter, our family has come here for nearly every single pet we have adopted in the last 40 years and we also donate supplies when we can. The shelter is supported by Second Chance for Animals and you can tell everyone really cares for the animals. The animals are all chipped and spayed/neutered and the adoption fees are super reasonable.

Watch out for the Chinese Man who volunteers there!! He is rude and they wouldn't let anyone adopt animals and if they did they couldn't take it home until after Xmas even if they were ready!! No signs on the cages telling you the cats names or their age or even if they were adopted or anything. He wouldn't even let you touch the cat or interact to see how the cat interacts with you that man doesn't need to be volunteering there at all he's horrible and he hurt my daughter's feelings today she cried in the car!

Looking for a cat but did not find one to meet our needs. Nice place.

I adopted my best friend cat from here. It was a long time ago, so hopefully conditions are still as good. The staff, particularly Brian, were very helpful in finding my match (was Bailey the tabby but I named her Andini because it sounded like a pretty name for my pretty kitty). They cared about the animals a lot, were knowledgeable, and the conditions were as good as could be. A lot of people have been dumping animals during the pandemic and I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for the staff to keep up, but still they do a great job. Other shelters were hesitant because of my young age, but this shelter gave me a chance after seeing that I would be responsible with a decision of this magnitude and I’m glad they did. Coming here was the best decision I’ve made, I will always be happy to have my wonderful cat around! She is snuggling with me now and purring. My leg falls asleep when she sits on me for a long time and it’s worth it.

Hi Kathleen. No, you don't have to have an appointment to look at the cats and dogs. Just come in noon to 3p.m. and you're good to go.
Buy, no.
Your best bet is to always come in. Normally we have pitbulls, pit mixes and if we have smaller dogs they are normally seniors. You never know though.
Must make an appointment to surrender. If you are not a Franklin resident with proof call your local township.
18 for insurance reason
Injured birds can be brought to Raptor Trust for rehabilitation. TheRaptorTrust.org
Due to recent covid increases and Gov. Murphy mandates we have cancelled ALL rabies clinics and have NO makeup date. Sorry.
All surrenders must be made by appointment with PROOF of Somerset residency ONLY.

Yes
We prefer you bring your own. You'll need it anyway as you will be taking the cat to the vet within the first seven days. (the first visit is free at Easton animal clinic or faith veterinary. Whichever you prefer.)
We need vet records if you have owned an animal in the past. It's $60 including the spay/neuter and up to date shots. We also need a copy of your lease if you rent or a landlords phone number. We use that to make sure you're allowed to have an animal. As long as we can make sure the vets and the property check out then you will be allowed to take the cat home if it is ready to go.
There is no such thing as a "no kill shelter". The best response would be it is a "Low Kill Shelter".
60.00 cash or check. They are altered micorchipped and tested for heartworm. Up to date on all age appropriate shots. We are open until 6pm today
If you have no other animals in the past 5 years then please put the vet you plan on using. Please by all means com and see what is available. The shelter is open until 3pm today and from noon to 6pm on Saturday. Check with the animal control officer on my answer. I hope you find a companion or two.
Any donations are welcome. We have a donation bin outside of the shelter. Feel free to stop by any time to drop off.
There is a small aurrender fee but juat give ua a call and set up an appointment for drop off
Usually. I would stop in. Katie, the animal control officer is amazing.
