This Place is a terrible shelter. It’s more like an office if anything. We weren’t escorted with another person to introduce us to the dogs and the lady that worked at the office with a blond short hair cut did not give us good advice. The dogs constantly barked and the place was too loud due to the stress the dogs had which made me nervous to go in. And the lady just started giving me attitude saying “ You clearly don’t want to adopt a dog because this is what happens at every shelter”. I have been to a shelter before in Clifton where there was actually a lady who took us into the kennel made sure we were comfortable and introduced us to dogs there. Whereas this place was just “ go in on your own”. I feel bad for the dogs that they have to live in a so called “ shelter”.

Today was the worst experience I’ve had searching for a dog. My husband and I Decided to come to this particular shelter and fell in love with a black dog Name “Charlie”, we requested to meet with Charlie in the private room and Charlie was all the dog we’ve been looking for. He was so lovable, submissive and obedient, “I have a video”, the heavy set lady with the scrubs on and Blond shirt hair cut came in and I showed her that I own a home with a back yard and it’s gated, she immediately looked at my camera video and said he can jump over that gate, which is impossible, she then said Charlie would kill my younger dog and turn my house upside down. For some reason she was trying everything to not give this dog to me, Charlie was jumping on me giving me kisses so it was all love. I believe she was saving this dog either for herself or a friend. If this is a shelter and these dogs are living in 5X5 cages why do they make it so hard to adopt a pet to a loving home. Even the receptionist in the front *frannie* was confused when my husband told her what the lady in the scrubs to us! I hope they investigate this shelter because something suspicious is happening here.

Hi, The address is 77 N Willow Street, Montclair, NJ, 07042.
Yes they always can use the extra the always more more animals in the shelter that need the comfort of home
Liz is the director, call and ask her. I think they sometimes need dog walkers but she would best advise.
Hi Michelle, we'd be very grateful to have them. Thank you for thinking of us
It is! From 1-4pm daily.
No sure. Give them a call
I believe so. If you go early in the day and your references check out early enough. Good luck!!
They will allow you to walk the dog run and goto the cat room to see the animals. But best to go when they aren't swamped with adoptions. Just tell them you are interested in looking but not making any commitments at this time.

We do not sell any animals. We have animals that are up for adoption. Usually we do not have rabbits up for adoption. You can also check out our Facebook page or Petfinder page for an updated inventory of animals up for adoption.
They always need volunteers!
There r a lot of middle age dogs that r still in good shape that really need a home
Hi Raul I'm sorry to hear about your son & im not sure if they will take her b-c she's what's considered at times "currently homeless" but I would call them tomorrow & ask to speak to a manager if they say no you can call the civic Center in bloomfield nj & explain the situation & they should be able to guide you good luck.
Call them and find out.
Hi I'm sorry for what your going through but to answer your question I don't think they do but call & ask if that fails call the town or call the civic Center in bloomfield they are very helpful & tell them your situation & they should be able to guide you from there I hope it all works out & good luck with everything.
I do not work for the shelter (we work with them for rescue and transport) but I believe there is an 18 year age limit for volunteers at all or most NJ shelters due to insurance liabilities. The biggest help you could give is to call rescues and foster a dog because it lifts the burden for shelters. Some rescues desperately need short term fosters which often times means the difference between life and death for a dog because places like Montclair simply can't house another one. Please call rescues and ask how you can make the biggest impact and they will probably tell you to foster.
Call them. Most shelters, it varies with the season and how full they are. AHS in Newark is full of kittens and the fees are low now.
How sad that Spirit Walker is so judgemental. The lady said she isn't home. The kid is going to seve his country which many times people di because they have limited means. Why dont you repect this woman instead of putting her down? She can't take care if the dog. Its none of your business why. I know two women stuck with their sons dogs. The both dogs would be better off with somebody else or dead. Theyre alone and howling all the time and never get walked, so just answer the question. No one needs your hate, Spirit Crusher.
Yes they do. Call them.
Call animal control. The raccoon is either sick or has been poisoned.
We at the shelter do not have proper housing for the pig, however, Skyland Farm Sanctuary you can look them up online.
Please donate to Montclair animal shelter! Local shelter are always in need!
