I love this place! I've been coming here for years. The campsites aren't quite as private as I would like, but they're better than most. It's all wooded and there are multiple trails, including one that goes up to an overlook. The lake is large and has a very nice swimming area with a sandy beach. Fishing and canoeing are also popular there. The bathhouses are a bit rundown, but they are cleaned regularly. They need more electric sites and I wish they would sell firewood. There's no cell phone service there.

No campground hosts to ask questions. Apparently no paid staff either? There was a gentleman that came around but he didn't make any effort to help anyone. Dogs and kids were running rampant through the entire campground. Cars going in both directions when it clearly states ONE WAY. Needs volunteers and/or paid people to help keep things safe. Not to mention if someone had a medical emergency. With no service and no hosts it could get ugly.

For kayaking and picnicking. No cell service. It is perfect when not crowded...RARELY..... I have not found a schedule for whether it is open. It is desolate with NO CELL SERVICE SO YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. USUALLY HONOR SYSTEM TO PAY. NO GUARD. I have since visited. No restrooms open but you can enter park. Gate to lock down Trout Pond gate closed December 1st.

Great campground, walkable to a small lake. There are plenty of hiking trails from the campgrounds. There isn't any cell service, so bring a book. You can buy wood down the road. We see a couple of wood shed where you can pick up what you might need for a couple of bucks. As for wildlife, we saw mostly birds, there was also a young bear that wandered into the campground during the evening and was chased away by a couple of campers. *** The hike up to the lookout on the people trail is difficult, it's all up hill for the thirty minute walk. The view is worth it, it just may not be suitable for young children.

They have parking at the bath house by the beach/lake, and parking by the boat ramp, & there is also plenty of parking at the picnic area which is pretty close & walkable to the lake.
