Jen is a great find! She’s amazing at her craft, my shoulder and neck feel so much better . Stop wasting your money at Massage Envy or any other chain, but local with Jen and your expectations will be exceeded.

Jen is wonderful and a great massage therapist! She listens to what you say and works on the problems you have. She is super professional and knows what to do to make you feel better. Jen is also fun to talk to. A fantastic session, and I will be back!

Jen is the best! Between targeted releases and assisted stretches, Jen keeps me moving after long days at a desk followed by long runs and the gym. Each session is tailored to my problem areas. Jen also provides recommendations for stretches to do at home. Working with Jen is absolutely integral to my overall wellness routine.

Jenn is wonderful at what she does, her massages leave my body feeling less tense, and Much more relaxed than it was when i walked in. As well as she Thoroughly succeeds in creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door. Anytime I am in need of a massage, I will always instinctually contact Jenn first, and I would recommend her to anyone I know looking for massage therapy and or Reiki treatment.

Questions & Answers

Why should I see you instead of another nearby therapist?

Massage therapists are all about personal preference. My clients return because I focus on you where you are and what you need right now. I'm casual and real with everyone. If you've been told massage can help but you hate the idea of what you know massage to be, come see me. I get it, I know massage can be weird and I am more than happy to talk and work through all the issues preventing you from getting the muscle help you need. I'm not comfortable in a fancy spa atmosphere. So if you're looking to improve range of motion for your workouts, relieve the tension from working with your hands, help that low back strain from constant bending to pick up your kids or from a physical job, make your appointment with me.

What's the difference between deep tissue and deep pressure?

This is a fun question because there is a debate among massage professionals about pressure levels vs techniques. I will tell you that in my office Deep Tissue is slow "layer by layer" work on ONE area. That means we spend the whole hour working on your upper back, for example. Deep Pressure can be used throughout the session based on your comfort and tolerance. The pressure is adjusted for each body part and can ALWAYS be changed. Pressure is subjective so what you feel is deep may not feel like much to the next person or it could make you jump off the table the next time. Its all about where you are at the time of the session.

Can I get a massage if I have a new injury, diagnoses, medication?

Reach out to me. Tell me the issue and I will tell you if we can still have the session. If you sprained your ankle but your visit was booked for neck tension there's no reason we can't proceed. Illnesses, conditions, medications are all so different it will require a discussion. I do recommend asking your doctor to be cleared for massage as well. If you need minor accommodations like an extra pillow for that ankle I am happy to oblige.

What does "Undress to your comfort level" even mean??? How do I know what to wear?

This comes down to fully communicating your needs and comfort levels with your therapist. It all depends on the modality and areas being worked on. If you are in for a classic full body Swedish style massage then you are typically expected to either take everything off or leave just underwear on, women should remove bras but they can be worked around if needed. I have plenty of techniques that can be done over clothing or sheets and I have the proper draping techniques to maintain modesty while working directly on the skin. You are ALWAYS covered by the draping, only the area being worked on is exposed. Nothing even remotely inappropriate is tolerated in my office. I respect you and I expect the same.

What about talking and music? I don't like spa music and silence makes me uncomfortable.

It's your session. You may hear often that staying silent and just enjoying the session is more beneficial. Some people are nervous or uncomfortable being touched so if talking helps you are welcome to chat away! You can choose from various music options so if you are more a classic rock or country fan we can make that happen. You can talk while listening to rock this week and lay in silence listening to Enya next time. It's all about where you are at the time.

What if I'm hot, cold, stuffy, in pain, have to pee while I'm on the table?

Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020
Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020

Talk to me! I will check in on your comfort periodically but if I don't notice then please just say something. If you aren't sure what to say or how to say it let me know that before the session. I know not everyone is comfortable expressing their needs and we can work with that. Hot, cold, stuffy and pain I can usually see or feel but if you have to pee you're going to have to say something. I'm not that good!

What if I wake up sick the morning of my massage?

Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020
Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020

I do have a cancellation policy and I ask that you give 24 hours notice so that I have the opportunity to offer that spot to someone else but, I am also human. If you feel a little off the night before give me the heads up that you aren't sure if you will make it. If you just wake up with the start of something please reschedule. I don't want it and neither do my other clients.

What do I need to do to prepare for my session?

Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020
Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020

There is very little prep needed before a massage session with me. I do ask that you have showered fairly recently, especially if you're coming from the gym. (no one cares if you've shaved your legs or not) Have some water and maybe a light meal or snack for your own comfort. Wear clothes that are easy to get in and out of. If you come from work a lot of clients bring comfortable clothes to wear after.

How do I know which type of session to choose from the service menu?

Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020
Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020

You are more than welcome to text or email me with questions or you can just book the therapeutic session and talk to me when you arrive. Every session is customized and my rates are based on time, not modality so you can decide when you arrive and adjust as the session progresses.

I've never had a massage. What should I expect?

Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020
Owning Your Journey | Sep 9, 2020

You should expect a full conversation with me about why you are trying massage. Together we will decide what type of massage you need that session and from there we will discuss the process. It generally includes me stepping out while you get undressed and onto the table( this process will be explained in detail), I will make sure you are comfortable, we will begin the session as agreed and I will check in on pressure levels and comfort throughout the session. I am more than happy to answer any and all questions before during and after the session.
