Enterprise Rent-A-Car

When I was arranging the rental car service, I asked the girl if she was going to pick me up at my house (and we would drop my car at the garage on Sunday) or if she was going to pick me up at the garage on Monday. I spent their next several minutes explaining what garage I was using. According to the garage owner, they have been there many times. I am not sure what the issue was. She says I will be picked up at the garage at 3:00 on monday. At 3:35, I was still waiting for someone to pick me up. I called the office. I was told that the girl who took my call last week had me noted as a walk-in. I explained that that was not the case and explain the painstaking process of explaining what garage I was using. That was followed by excuses of his absence the week before. He said he was currently alone at the office he could not come and get me. I said what am I supposed to do? He asked if I had someone to pick me up and bring me to Enterprise. No, I did not. Then he asked me if someone from the garage could bring me to enterprise. I said no, there is only one person working here at the garage. It is the owner. He is not going to drive me to somerset. I then asked, Can you leave the keys for me somewhere? No, was his reply. Finally, he says someone will be there to pick me up. I asked how long, he said 20 minutes. So, after waiting a total of an hour, I am picked up in a jeep that wreaked like a stale, cheap hotel room. You know, the ones that have poor air conditioning and moisture issues. The odor, and his herky jerky driving (he kept his elbow on the ledge of the door and just moved his hand jarring the car with every motion that he made AND he would press the accelerator then release, press the accelerator then release), were making me so sick that I had to put the window down. When we finally reached the destination of the Enterprise office, I was told that was the car that I was going to be driving. Not only did it wreak, but the windshield was filthy (the car was dirty enough that, as he pulled in, my mechanic said, they didn't even wash it for you). I said I can't drive that car. If I take it, I'd like to exchange it for something else tomorrow and I don't want my insurance to be changed for today (by this time it's almost 4:30). He said he would see what he could do. Additionally, I requested a car that was better on gas then an SUV. A Jeep is not what I was expecting. So, I could not put any trust in being able to trade for something better tomorrow. I walked outside, called my insurance agent to make sure that they were not going to pay for the rental. He told me they've received many complaints about this enterprise office. I canceled the rental and had to be picked up and taken home by my mom! I will not use Somerset Enterprise again. This is the second time that I was fed excuses for their poor communication and lack of quality service. I don't know if this is a corporate issue or a management issue.

5 stars because the service is always great and cars are always clean however it seems like the location in Somerset PA has issues with general maintenance of the vehicles... one was late for an oil change and they gave me a substitution... another was 2 months behind for PA inspection and I had to move to a different car... another the radio didn't work (that one isn't so much their fault but I had to switch cars again because I'm not driving a car.for 2 days without a radio)...
