We would suggest another cultivar if you have poor soil. Without knowing the make up of the soil you are mentioning, one might try Hard Fescue instead. Hard Fescue is vary adaptable in various soil conditions. It will go dormant if it is under stress, like most grasses will do, but tends to have a higher survival rate. One may also try Tall Fescue. Even though Tall Fescue is considered a turf type grass. There are cultivars like K-31 or Fawn tall Fescue that are used for their hardiness.
