PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! This is one of the most exciting places I've ever ridden a bike. What a route holy cow! Had a family renunion here after we were separated due to covid and we did it all. Star gazing, hiking, biking, smores. it was magical. The dirt road once you turn off the highway 59 was a total WASHBOARD but my outback handled it and my sister even brought her minivan!

Gooseberry Mesa is a mountain biker 🚵‍♀️ and hiker Mecca. Riding is on slickrock which provides excellent traction allowing bikers to climb steep rock features or drop down crazy chutes but your tires stick like glue to the slickrock. Start with the Practice loop trail, ride Bowls and Ledges, and North Rim to get used to the rock before you ride out on the Gooseberry Trail out to the end of the Mesa. Then take South Rim back to the parking area for an epic ride.

Glorious. Such a diversity of wildlife. Lots of Juniper, prickly pears, pancake cacti, sage, and manzanita. The geology was really interesting. Lots of slick rock and mesas with bands of colors. Good range of mountain biking trails, some good for beginners and some good for more advanced folks.
