The Burying Ground makes people feel peaceful… It’s kind of a big land on a hill. You can see the top of Old North Church through this place.

Lots of history as you walk around. Look out for the medal reprinting participation in the Boston tea party.

Cemetery that can be visited by walking the "Boston Freedom Trail". Admission is free and you can find explanatory panels that tell the history of the cemetery and some of the people buried there. Since it is a cemetery, respect must be shown throughout the visit.

Unexpectedly, this burial ground is right in North End. As a high point, there is a view of the water and surrounding area. The information plaques are nice to read, but don't plan on spending a lot of time here.

Questions & Answers

Were headstones moved so grass could be cut in 1990's?

From everything I could find it does not appear there is any record of the headstones ever moving in the 90s. You may get different information if you call one of the historical societies in the area or visit it yourself.

As a youngster my folks hired an African-American to help around the house; His name was Robert Pew. He died in 1972 (or 1973). I believe he did not have a grave marker and I want to provide one. Is he buried in your cemetery?

Cant answer for sure, but this cementary is much older than 1970's, more like 1770's! I hope you find your special person!

Dears Gentlemen, would you please help me with this, I try to know if my great-grandfather Jose Maria Marcano a Venezuelan sailor who died in a ship's accident in the Boston Habor was buried in that cemetery between June 1936 and May 1937. Thanks,

Using this link as a guide, it would seem that no burials occurred here after the 1850's. Best wishes. https://www.boston.gov/cemeteries/copps-hill-burying-ground
