In 2014 my husband was diagnosed with liver cancer. His doctor referred him to TGH Transplant Institute. He saw Dr Angel Alsina and his nurse, Ellen Nabbett. Dr. Alsina told my husband he would never receive a liver Transplant. He wanted him to take an experimental trial medicine. After reading about the medicine we knew it would make him really sick and he would die sooner. His cancer doctor then referred him to Florida Transplant Institute in Orlando. He was evaluated by Dr. KOTESH. He told my husband "I will do all I can to help you". And he did. My husband went through chemo and radiation. On July 22, 2016 my husband, Terry Hunter, received a liver Transplant @ Florida Hospital, which is now Advent Health. I would like Dr Alsina to know that my husband is alive today and doing great. Thanks be to our Lord and the doctors at Florida Transplant Inst. I am writing this to let patients know if you are turned down by TGH or not happy with them, don't give up. They have a great Transplant Center in Orlando with an amazing team of doctors. They have also provided him with excellent support and follow up care.

Got the liver transplant. A year post op and it’s still a grateful moment. An amazing team! From beloved floor charge nurse to room H207, pregnant nurse Danielle, Dr Who tattoo nurse, nurse Candy, team member who came early to their shift, Jordan, surgical nurse William and so many other kind souls... Dr Lu most of all... we were amazed by the grace, professionalism and medical knowledge of the team. The level of care was amazing. We did not have liver transplant *yet* because liver was not performing well. This was not the fault of the team and we applaud their willingness to make a tough call. If you’re considering Tampa General Hospital for transplant services I would high recommend. Support staff who also are to be appreciated- valets, emergency Leo, and chaplain admin support. We will be back for our liver before Danielle has that NYE baby boy! Much love- #TeamKen #TattooKen

Tampa General is a really good hospital. I've had to be in there twice now, for knee surgery and for heart problems and each time I was very impressed. I have met only one staff who wasn't just so very very nice to me and to family. That means to me that the working conditions are good and in a med center that's really important for the patients. If your doctor sends you to Tampa Gen, feel confident it's a good place.

Great hospital. Surgeons, nurses, and staff were all great. Had liver transplant in Aug, great recover and excellent care. Coordinator was/is great. Respond to all communications within a decent time frame. 9th floor recovery nurses were the best. Caring and concerned about your condition. I would recommend this hospital to anyone considering an organ transplant
