This was definitely worth the hour drive. The tour was very reasonably priced and a bargain considering all you get to see. The staff were all super nice, and our guide was superb at explaining the history of the quarry, daily operations, at pointing out various site features. It was a fun learning experience. The only negative was that we decided to take a Friday afternoon tour when quarry activity had started winding down for the week. At the end of the tour, the guide recommended visiting Hope Cemetery a few miles away to see a unique array of memorials created by site craftsman; we decided to do that and I’m glad we did since it was a nice supplement to what we had just seen at the quarry.

Had a very nice tour here. At nearly 600 feet deep, it is the largest operating deep-hole, dimension granite quarry in the world! Guide explained the process of removing granite from the quarry. View is very nice. Found out about many uses of granite that I had never heard of before. It is even used in chicken feed! You should watch the video before taking the tour. Also, make sure to take in the museum.

We showed up on a Saturday at noon and the visitor center wasn't open. Checked for hours and none were listed. Says it was under construction but the website said it was open since May '22, we visited in June. The granite bowling alley had a ball that was torn and made of rubber. Not much gun, nothing to see here.

We did the tour which was so interesting. You meet with your guide and he drives up to the quarry, and you follow in your own car. Our guide, Roy,, was very knowledgeable as he worked there for over 20 years. They have a fun bowling lane and some leftover bits of granite that you can take. There are some beautifully crafted things in the store. The quarry itself was vast and just wonderful to see. Roy's explanations of how they work the granite was so informative and he was very kind and patient in answering the kids questions

Monday through Friday, the self guided factory tour is available. Because the manufacturing staff is off on Saturday's, the factory tour is not available. Please note we are closed on July 4th each year and the factory and quarry staff are off on Labor Day and the day after for employee appreciation day. The tour to the quarry is with a guide, they will share the history of Rock of Ages and take you to the the deep dimensional quarry, an active site where you will learn about how we quarry granite.
We allow them in the Visitors Center and in the factory. We do not allow them in the van on the quarry tour; however, you could drive up behind the van and join the group at the platform for the tour with the dog.
Average tour takes about 40 minutes and we offer 5 tours a day. 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:40 pm, 1:40 pm and 2:40 pm. We hope to see you soon!
Yes they do, or they did when I was there a couple months ago.
