They will harass you for money. I never carry cash and said that to a man as I entered a BP station. He followed me inside and said I could get cash back on my purchase to give to him.

The Columbus Coalition for the Homeless currently [as of January 2020] has an office at the former West Park United Methodist Church. Monthly Coalition meetings are held at that building. The Coalition had previously had an office at the former Central Presbyterian Church [which is why several pictures of that church have been posted to this "Google Maps" page]. West Park United Methodist Church is no longer an active congregation but the building is still open; there are several social service organizations that are located within that building. I have now posted several pictures of the former West Park United Methodist Church to this "Google Maps" page.

I was approached by an older gentlemen leaving the courthouse on S. High St. He asked for money for the cause and I literally was down to my last dollar. I gladly gave it to this man, and he responds with "Come on young man, quit playing games...I know you've got more than that". I was completely offended, as I just finished a divorce (hence leaving the courthouse), and lost my job three days ago. I was completely disappointed, especially as a Biblical Studies student, that this man is approaching people this way.

The shelter hotline is 614-274-7000. They can help with other resources too. You can call 211 for information and referral. Best of luck to you.

My church is making up gift bags to hand out at the open shelter. I have a stash of candles that I don't want any more. Is it ok to give out candles and lighters in our gift bags?

Hi Roxie, thanks for reaching out. We are not the same organization as The Open Shelter. You can call them at 614-222-2885 from 10AM to 2 PM to ask I would not accept them at our organization due to risk of fire.

What are the items you mostly are in need of for men/women.
