Troy NY early 1860's, where were the folks buried that died while living in an Almshouse? I believe in 1870's the records improved but not sure if it's possible to research someone who died prior Troy 4th Ward family # 2445 address 1482

Thanks for your inquiry. Birth records were not required by law until c. 1880. Our earliest official records go back to 1791 when Rensselaer County was separated from Albany Couty. Your best bet is to check Albany County Hall of Records and period church records. However, if you are fairly certain that the individual died after 1891 in Rensselaer County, then it will be worth checking here to see if we have their Surrogate Court record in our extensive Arichves.
