When I say I was pleasantly surprised, I was PLEASANTLY surprised! This place was SO good and one of the better meals we had during our visit to Stowe! We had a large group on our ski trip so it was tough to find a place to accommodate all of us, but Matterhorn did an awesome job of fitting our group of 15 in on St. Paddy's Day! At first, I was a bit skeptical because they serve sushi, pizza, and many other dishes (thought sushi and pizza were a weird combo lol), but honestly, the sushi was amazing along with everything else we ordered! We kinda did a haj paj of meals - traditional wings, dumplings, sushi, burgers, desserts, etc. For apps, we ordered deep-fried pork dumplings, sushi: viagra roll & crab rangoon roll, burger: BBQ burger, desserts: Maine whoopie pies, and more! If you are looking for a place to dine, I definitely recommend making a visit to The Matterhorn!

Amazing service and amazing food. The pizza has a really good smoky flavor. Mango Tango roll was very good that we had to order a second. Recommend setting up reservations as the restaurant got very busy, even for a Tuesday night.

We visited Matterhorn on a Tuesday night. It took a while to be seated, despite having a reservation, but the hostess was clearly quite busy. Once seated it took another 10-15 minutes for our sever to even check in with us, despite servicing tables next to us — a quick “hello, I’ll be with you soon” would have been nice. The atmosphere was nice, not too loud, and plenty of space inside. The back of the restaurant is against a small river, which was nice to look at even in the darker evening light. We enjoyed the deep friend dumplings, and the menu had a wide variety of options. However, my grilled chicken sandwich was quite dry, with a very burnt bun, and my parents’ burgers were both well done, despite being ordered medium rare. They were also out of French fries. Overall, the experience was pretty average.

The food is great. The server we had was terrible. Forgot my beer until dinner came. Then forgot to ring up my fries entirely. Waited 10 minutes for check. Shrug. The ambiance is worth the frustration though - especially if you can eat near the river! August 2021
