Used as a threat to detain my friends and I from a young age. The threat of being sent to north star was used to instill fear in teenagers with unstable housing with out resources to proper care. Given the option to stay in abusive housing or being sent to a nightmare facility Alaska seriously lacks options to heal from adverse childhood experiences. Friends that did go in hoped of sobering up from addictions came back with more trauma than before. DO BETTER

this place rlly sucked and ruined my mental health while i was there. i just got discharged the 4th of this month and god im glad i did. if i was there any longer my brain would probably explode. doctor nueburger was a rlly good help and was a nice guy to talk to. miss sabrina, miss julie, miss brook were the most helpful staff there but last but not least we cannot forget miss diane. it was somewhat fun there but not very pleasant having to be stuck with people that constantly argue with everyone and constant screaming. i honestly didnt enjoy it that much and starting to get motivation to actually do things- Maylin G. yours truly ( i also got a chair thrown at my face by robert) 😒 i wouldnt suggested bringing ur child here to get help because of how much it sucked and the people there. when someone would get hit they wouldnt even get put on u.r and it was honestly so annoying?? find a better place to get help for your child please and thank you. the food was great tho.

DO NOT SEND ANY CHILD HERE The place sucked, the images on the site are nothing like the unit I was in. They use it as a ploy to make the adelsents unit look friendly, it was anything but that. Fighting, uncomfortable living conditions, excessive use of medications and uncaring staff, there were good staff tho but everything else was horrible. The one on one therapy was under equipped to deal with most cases, group therapy was very shallow and the clothing was just jail scrubs.

When I was sent here back in 2016 or 2017, there was one staff member that literally said that she doesn't care about us that were sent there and she just said that shes working there for the money. That got me so mad and the staff members there would let stuff go missing. There were some staff members there actually cared about those who were there. For the love of God, HIRE PEOPLE THAT CARES AND DONT HIRE THOSE WHO DOESNT CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS AND JUST WORKING THERE FOR THE MONEY! Parents, don't send your kids here. Please.

If there are legal matters going on you can also be added by the therapist. I'm a parent but i do know there are foster kids, OCS cases and wards of the state where gardenship isn't easly defined and other special circumstances where the child's therapist can grant permission. You can always call the and ask to talk to one of the patient coordinator's.
do NOT send your loved ones to this hospital! What they are going to do is try and make a profit off your child, by hyping him up on meds (they get compensated for prescribing brand names) and keeping them there for as long as possible. If need be send your child to military school, instill values in them- this place is hell. Don't believe me read the reviews! You will regret it.
Hate to break it to ya ghost kid, but the program is also just as much of a lie. North star is a for profit based company. No one wants to see the linoleum tile subunits or the generally depressing vibe of the place.
