One of my favorite places to spend the day. While you should always assume EVERY puddle of freshwater has a gator, this spot is highly trafficked, thus the gators are scarce at the boat ramp and beach. However!!!! I must caution you, there ARE alligators here, less than 100 yards downriver from the ramp, I seen an 8 footer on the bank.. and up river is Charlie's creek, and I have seen quite a few 6 to 8 footers chilling. There is a 10 maybe 12 foot long one about a 200 yards up Charlie's creek. So exercise caution!! Your dog or child is the one a the most risk for alligator attacks, so be aware and have fun!!! PS, I bring my dog and we swim and look for fossils right here all the time, so your safe, just pay attention, as the will swim by occasionally. Biggest I seen going by the boat ramp was maybe 3 foot..There are snakes in the area as well...

Nice little spot to stop and stretch your legs, boat ramp was nice to launch up.... Went for a quick walk, nice and peaceful.

Its a great little boat ramp location. Just needs some cleaning up and a little updating. It was getting a little wild there when we were leaving but besides that, it is pretty chill most of the time.

Great place for camping. We camped there for a night before we started our canoe trip from arcadia the next day. It was very natural. No restrooms available there so have to be prepared beforehand. The camping there was tranquil and the sky looked pretty clear for stargazing.

Questions & Answers

Thank you for your responses! I was hoping to do an overnight on the river. I have my own gear. Canoe Outpost doesn't offer parking-only service anymore. Any suggestions where I can park overnight?

You could camp at pioneer Park and do your overnighter launching from pioneer Park and ending at gardener. That is the sweetest part of the river. You could either paddle back to pioneer Park or arrange a ride back.

Is overnight parking allowed/recommended here?

You can but I wouldn't park anything fancy there. A canoe business owns property there and they do pickups and drop offs there but there is no security.
