My mother is a long-term patient of Dr. Poonam Maholtra and raved about her. I left an AMAZING, CARING doctor behind in Texas but apparently these people are only used to seeing medicare patients who don't care who they see, because I found the office staff to be largely incompetent. It took three phone calls and two people to book an initial appointment, even though I was referred by an existing patient. It took a week to verify my insurance and the person in charge of that was incredibly rude without ever having met me. At my first appointment I saw an intake nurse and then a PA. The PA, Olivia, was very nice, and I'm sure she's competent, but my expectation was that I was seeing the actual doctor, and NO ONE told me I was seeing a PA. The correct way to do this is to inform, and ask if it's okay, especially as a new patient to their practice. I had to cancel my follow-up appointment because I had a nasty cold, actually thought it was covid, but the test was negative, and when I called today to reschedule, I was told I should have requested a video visit since I was sick. NO ONE bothered to tell me that when I called to cancel. Their voicemail said, "We think you might want to reschedule but we''re not sure." They don't use technology well, they argued with me when I said I didn't like being handed off to a PA with no warning on my first visit, and they need to remember that they are not doing me a favor by seeing me, I am employing them. Never Going Back. Do Not Recommend.
