Great place for a refreshing walk and/or to walk you dog. There is an off leash dog park area, but on leash is allowed throughout the park. It is well maintained and has trails throughout the expansive greens space. One entrance for cars but 4 or 5 different ways in on foot. One can picnic at tables placed in grassy areas as well as where the dog park meets the trails under the expansive forested canapy. One can enjoy views or walk all the way down to the water.

Best city park.128 acres...with something for everyone here! Running trails, river access, wheelchair accessible trails, picnic tables, offleash dog park "field of dreams", an abundance of flora and fauna. Lots of preschool groups exploring today. And I couldn't find any signs that indicated you need to pay for parking.

Headed out to Mary S Young Park on a dry February weekday. A handful of dog folks, and a school field trip were the other people at the park. We headed down the trail towards the river. Enjoying the tall trees. The seasonal bridge to Cedar Island was out of commission, so we instead walked along the shore. Saw a couple of sea lions, and then back up hill to the parking lot.

Short Stroller friendly trail in nature. Definitely would not recommend if you are not up for a steep incline at the beginning downhill and uphill at the end. There was a summer camp or two there as well so a little bit busier with kids playing but nothing too bothersome!

Since the park is adjacent to the Willamette River, there is fishing. If you hook something, it's likely a bass. Good luck 🎣

Dogs are allowed on a leash when using the trails. Then, you can let them off leash in the off-leash area pretty much as you wrap up a hike!

Is the park open since the ice storm downing the trees? I cannot seem to find an accurate answer. One day it is open, the next day it says "closed due to downed tree limbs".

There are signs at the entrance that say, "park closed," but you can still go in and people are there with their dogs etc.
