My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Popat for some newly surfaced cardiac challenges I've experienced. I called his office to schedule an appointment and the lovely woman on the phone tells me that Dr. Popat doesn't accept self-pay patients. Seriously?! If I'm paying cash before even walking from waiting area, what does it matter? I've been with Florida Medical Clinic group for almost 10 years. I am experiencing a brief gap in health insurance but that doesn't mean my health needs have stopped or that I can't afford to pay. Do you think anyone wants to be without health insurance? Of course they don't. I wasn't thrilled about having to shell out an ungodly amount of money for testing and whatever else would've been recommended...but it's necessary. Disappointed and frustrated. I understand you want to get paid. Cool. I wanted to pay you for your service. Look, doctor, I'm in my 30's and I just wanted a trustworthy doctor to help find out what's going on with my heart. I'll contact another cardiologist who actually does accept patients even if they don't have insurance. If it's all about the dollar anyway.....

3 days ago I entered St Joe's hospital while experiencing the early stages of a heart attack .... in a short time it was obvious that I needed a cardiologist and Dr Popat was called.. I've never been in any type of emergency situation like this before but Dr. Popat and his entire team made me as comfortable as possible within seconds of entering the surgical room ... Dr Popat spoke directly to me and reassured me that everything was going to be ok ... he worked with such confidence and calmness which in turn created an amazing sense peace within myself... following the procedure he came to check on me regularly, answered my endless questions and never once made me feel rushed! 5 star review doesn't do justice for what I experienced! Thank you for clearing my 100% blockage and helping me get back on track!

Dr. Popat and his team at St. Joe’s saved my life! My right coronary artery was 100% blocked Dr. Popat was extremely calm and thorough. He walked me through every step of my heart cath as it was happening. He is a true professional and I am forever grateful for him and his amazing team!
