Very disappointed. I have a referral order from my primary care physician, already with a diagnosis and existing medications. After trying to get in contact with the office multiple times, my call was finally returned and I was spoken to very rudely and was told that they aren't taken new patients and that my referral doesn't exist. She was absolutely no help and didn't even try to understand what my referral was for, and her tone was so disrespectful and snippy that I had to just hang up. I contacted my physician to see how to proceed as for I now am unable to get refills and to seek a referral elsewhere. For this being a mental health clinic, the way I was spoken to as a patient was extremely upsetting and triggering.

my therapist brooke was amazing and i have no complaints about the therapy here. but the psychiatrists are lacking, ive tried every single one of them. i do not remember the names but the younger one was very late to the appointment and refused to address my concerns about adhd even though the appointment was set for that and told me to come back in three to eight weeks. the other woman there changed my meds and told me absolutely nothing about them, didn’t tell me what they would do or the side effects or just any information on them. she also cancelled my anxiety meds and prescribed me two bipolar meds, when we talked we discussed canceling the old bipolar meds that made me dizzy, not the anxiety ones which i really need. it takes a quick google search to see trileptal is for bipolar and fluvoxamine is for anxiety, so how a psychiatrist could mess that up is beyond me. but now i have to rush to find a new one to fix the issue before i run out of them.

I've made several attempts to write a review but erased it because no one cares to change their actions of error. My husband checked himself into this facility to get pharmaceutical help to assess , plan & evaluate his current medication regiments with expected outcome to prescribe a personalized combination of medication to bring stability. A few days after my husband checked himself in , we got a call from his male nurse that " He feared for his life and was scared by my husband..." I asked what happened, the male nurse replied my husband was yelling uncontrollable and he called the cops to Charlotte Behavioral Facility in Punta Gorda. My husband has been diagnosed with his condition since he was about 13 years old . My husband has never been physical or tried to harm anyone over the course of struggling with this diagnosis. My husband managed to finish FSW college with HIGH HONORS , hold down his job over the years and provides for our family ( Myself -wife , a son & a step -son ). My husband is a well rounded educated black man that has battled this diagnoses since childhood. I went to visit my husband after speaking to the male nurse on the phone ( Who stated he was scared for his life ..) and saw tazer marks on my husband and smell of bodily fluids specifically urination. Our family persistently refused to let it go without seeing video surveillance of the incident. We sat down to watch the video and with tears in our eyes say where my husband was upset in his actions , the cops came , they aimed the tazer at him and we saw where he stood where he was and held his hand up then he was tazered , hit the floor and urinated during the convulsive electrical stimulation of the tazer. We contacted internal revenue and they stated the police officer was justified in his actions. We contacted the facility and they stated they have never had any nurse call the cops without first trying to defuse the situation with less invasion measures first . This happened early last year around February and my heart still pains that the police officer that's supposed to protect and serve regardless of personal skin preference or political preference but must protect and serve all people especially those mentally impared . The nurse whose job not to harm or hurt patients willfully or without any hidden personal motives or beliefs. I would love for those involved to take a moment to envision this same incident happened/happening to your precious loved one or family member inorder to understand that this is My precious loved one , This is My family & This is someone's child also - HUMAN BEING ! It is very sickening that these are the people behind closed doors taking care of the mentally impaired , those with addiction problems and those who may be sedated with opioids left in the hands of these type of nurses , police officers and most importantly this type of management.

MY NEPHEW WHO WAS THERE YESTERDAY, WITH MY SISTER HIS NAME IS EVAN IS AT THE HOSPITAL AND WE DON'T KNOW IF HE WILL LIVE OR DIE. HE MADE A PACT WITH SOMEONE TO KILL THEMSELVES BECAUSE HIS FRIEND WAS GETTING SENT TO A BOYS HOME. He's been a patient for 2-3yrs. They gave him ritalin first time. He couldn't sleep.Ritalin Narcotic. Then from that to Paxil, Wellbutrin, all of the SSRI and plenty of amphetamines, which he probably sells them. My sister has 2 kids, works 2 jobs. He steals her car. She try's calling him within 10 mins she get's a call from the Cops. Saying they had just pulled over her son who is 15 with a learner's permit and intoxicated badly, and doesn't go to jail. Police left thought the car was getting towed. No because he ran out gas, somehow he got more gas in that car. At 6 that morning. He had totalled her car. So, she goes straight from there to if Police don't work how about his 3 yr long patient at behavioral center. Sounded good to me. They didn't want to help. They claimed they lost breathalyzer and they have no drug test. Well honestly if this is state funded, then you should drug test to know what the heck in there system that throw's off all the drug's you give the child. You were out, and just referred to place's and avenue's. We cannot afford a rehab center. 6 times in one week he's had deal with Cops walked every time. I'm so confused why you did so little to help. Well you not the only one's I'm mad at but you could have done something. Anyway I know who talk to fix some stuff like these people Jennifer Tschetter J.D. No Relationships Chief Operating Officer -- Darcy Abbott No Relationships Chief of Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention -- Nathan Dunn No Relationships Deputy Chief Operating Officer -- Alexis Lambert No Relationships Chief of Staff -- Fabienne Ouapou-Lena M.D., M.P.H No Relationships Chief of Bureau of Family Health Services Uncalled for cry for help at a place that name states that what they deal with and he's a 3 yr patient. At least give him 5 mins with Doc. Words will never ever describe how I feel how my nephew is fighting for his like this. READ THIS BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ get your kid child dead/suicide/zombie out on there dumb kid's down drugs. Then, throw in fact narcotics and if you give out a Narcotic you need drug test. Also if you misdiagnose someone on Adderall or Ritalin and you don't drug test, you don't know if it's in his system or not. He take them or sells them at school and more drugs would pop up and give you that reason why something not working with this child. if they 0 out 5 star that what you would have gotten.

The only inpatient care we do is in our Central Receiving Facility for those who are in crisis.
While you do not have to be a resident of Charlotte County, you must be a resident of Florida as that's where our providers are licensed to practice. That being said, there are several programs we offer which require specific criteria be met in order to participate - so it's not quite a cut and dry answer. You can call and speak with a screener for information on a specific program. 941-639-8300
Yes!
We have inpatient for those in crisis in our Crisis Stabilization Unit. That would be through a Baker Act, which provides a 3-day hold for those in crisis due to a mental health condition. Otherwise, we see patients on an outpatient basis. We do have our S.H.A.R.E. Spot which is a drop-in center for those with severe mental health issues. You can read more about it on our website (www.cbhcfl.org). Unfortunately, right now, due to COVID, they are not meeting in person.

The Crisis Stabilization Unit visiting hours are Mon. - Fri. from 6-7 p.m. and Sat. - Sun. from 10-11 a.m. and from 6-7 p.m. If visiting a minor, you will be required to present a photo ID. When you check in for visitation, the staff will assist you to prepare properly to ensure everyone's safety.
The screening department is who new patients call when they want to set up an appointment
We do not have a unit specifically for musical patients
no, you have to check in. And they won't force anyone to stay against their wishes.
