Not only no help, but offered to give me safety tips so I could go back to my abuser. RETURN TO MY ABUSER. Let that sink in ladies.

Hi I was taking child clothing and women clothing to the interact for the women's who get abused and they didn't accept the kid clothes nor the women clothing I wasn't going to leave it for the store but for the people who need it in the times now and in my experience I tried to find clothes for my child and I didn't find any so I thought of going to leave some for women who need it for there kids

This place for victims of violence called the police on me if I didn't leave in 2 minutes. It says on the hotline.org website: contacting law enforcement may endanger your safety. " decisions about your safety should always include considerations of the potential risks that come from contacting law enforcement." My ABUSER is a cop. Why in the world did interact treat me so rudely? And endanger my safety MORE?

There are a lot of bad reviews here for InterAct. I do not know what others have been through, I can only review my own experience. I went to InterAct, as I was advised to, after yet another phone call to the police regarding a domestic incident. I did not have any expectations. The woman I spoke with taught me so much about the cycle of abuse, the need of the abuser for control over everything, the way women can be stripped down and rebuilt believing they need the abuser. The abuser makes the woman feel as if she needs to be with the abuser, completely dependent upon this person for literally everything. This illusion of dependence is created by the abuser having complete control over every single thing, no matter how small. A person is broken down and rebuilt until you no longer recognize your own reflection. Things you previously would never had tolerated from someone are now all your own fault. I knew my situation was not good but I didn't truly understand what my situation was until I spoke with a woman at InterAct. I was given assistance to file for a DVPO, my second one. I previously returned to this bad situation because I wanted to believe what was promised to me and my child was actually going to happen. Numerous 'professionals' had made me feel bad about this, as if I were stupid for having hope that my abuser could and wanted to improve our situation. No one at InterAct judged me. In fact they told me that most victims return at least once to a bad situation, not because they want to be treated poorly, but because they are already programmed to believe they need this abuser in their life to survive and be happy. At InterAct I learned this and understood it for the first time. Not one of the multiple professionals, who I had to pay to speak with, mentioned any of this to me. A volunteer at InterAct spent hours listening to me, explaining things to me and even helping me with legal processes. There are people there that care and that will take the time to help you. Also, the city of Raleigh police department has a domestic violence crisis center. They reached out to me, I didn't know they even existed. If you feel you are not getting the counseling or help you need at InterAct, contact RPD DV crisis center, I was on the phone with one of their counselors for over an hour one day and she even has called me back to check on me. There is help out there. I hope all of you who need it can find it in time.
