We must practice what we preach. We are either spiritual or super religious. Religion will have you write pretty words, mission statements and core values but the spirit of God will require you to live by them. Religion will have you treat one person better than the next, just because it seems right to man. We must pray asking God to show us people. Instead we are consulting people to show us people. You can't be in the business of taking care of the homeless and needy while simultaneously creating financial hardship for others. That's not what Jesus would do.

Reverse racism is alive & well in the women's staff. I am educated, & was penalized for that. When you are intimidated because you use correct grammer, something is wrong. Tons of money flows into this shelter, especially at Christmas. You would not believe what I've seen come in, car after car bringing boxes & boxes & boxes of wrapped packages. This was 18 mo. ago. There were still two programs, emergency & 'The Program'. I wasn't looking to receive anything for Christmas, I had shelter, food & felt reasonably safe (from the outside). Don't know where all those hundreds of gifts went... people in emergency nor pre-Program saw any of them. This isn't sour grapes, these are the facts. Someone from this religious-affiliated business should be concerned. Very concerned.

I was incredibly taken aback by the behavior of the woman in charge of the Child Development Center who goes by the name Kathryn. As a recent transplant to the Raleigh area and North Carolina native the lack of motivation to communicate without prompting does not bode well for the longevity of a nonprofit that aims to provide long term stability in the lives of those experiencing and facing homelessness in the city of Raleigh. When questioned about pay schedules and when pay would be provided for work (I'm an independent contractor) Kathryn seemed to possess a "devil may care" attitude regarding caregivers receiving pay 30 days after work has been provided but required to show up to work each day..... without pay. I do hope the program succeeds and retains talent and workers as I believe in the values that are in place. I just hope this review aids in areas that are being neglected. -- ** UPDATE ** 4/18/19 Pay was received at the end of the day and the director for this department said she did not need my services for a future shift. For future independent contractors please make sure you are not put in a position where, when you will receive pay is uncertain but you are expected to show up each work day. I enjoyed working in the center but the added stress of when I would receive pay (if at all) was enough for me to not want to work with this director again.

Their facilities are great. They seem to want to help, however, I have had a stay at the South Wilmington Street Center and encountered some of the same issues. I am currently enrolled in their "New Life" program which is supposed to span a time of 18 months. I have currently attended for a week now. The program is structured great, and the facilities are decent. However, the staff an residents seem to have a problem with allowing "White Flag" guests, who obviously have no where to go, being in the building. They literally unplugged the main cable attachment to make it seem as if thede was no cable on the tv's in their entertainment room. I had to search for channels on each tv using the attenna function when they offer cable service that provides many more channels. When I asked about if they could fix it I was told that Hurricane Florence was the cause. They also make us work while in their "New Life" program which is fine with me. However, in order to save on janitors they give us chores like cleaning the bathroom. I am a firm believer in maintaining the place that you live, but not everyone feels that way. So, having to clean pee off of the floor and doodoo off of toilet seats and walls because of nasty dirty old men is not part of my criteria. I've been living here for about 2 weeks now and their protocol is all out of whack. Not all of the CSS workers are the problem but their system of communication is clearly failing the residents that they have brought in for their New Life program. I will have more to post later and future updates for as long as I am in the program.

They never answer
The Raleigh Rescue Mission does take gently used clothing donations.
The best person to answer this is the rescue mission, best to call them directly.
No, this is not a thrift store type place. They do not accept items nor do they give any out.
I believe they do have those programs, but you will need to contact them about openings.
They certainly do...
You can wait outside if they will not let you in. There is no public wifi
Yes, visit our website for current volunteer opportunities: https://www.raleighrescue.org/ways-to-give/volunteer/
Yes. It's also some churches with Daycares that will take it.
I plugged it into my maps app and gps brought me right to the front door.
They will accept it either way, I suggest what's easier for you.
They will take new blankets, they stray away from all types of used bedding
You can donate at the mission, or if you have furniture or large items you can take them to the rescue mission store on capital
Give them a call, I believe you need to schedule something
The best place to take clothing donations is the rescue mission store/donation center on Capital Blvd.
Give them a call and set that up!
They don't have a soup kitchen
They offer long term help, and to address Steve Deals comment... They don't mandate you be a Christian, we have Catholic people here and non religious... The program is Christian based, but they don't require you to be Christian
Photo ID, no sex offenders allowed

G. Moore if you are reading this I wish you could help me to get my wife some help. I'm in New Orleans at the present moment, and my wife is in the Raleigh North Carolina area in Spring Park South homeless, She was first kidnapped by her uncle and then thrown out on the streets homeless. Her name is Eva Anderson Sullivan
Im currently living there and i work. Just call and make an appointment to see what they will tell you.
You will need to call them to find out, they seem to have their slots filled for service times. Our church could only get certain times for service.
No for the 8th grade part n you would have to get permission from the director before you take any pictures or videos
Unused would be ideal. But I am sure they would take whatever and get rid if what they can't use
Sober..and since you're female..depends if you have kids or not. But trust me..its the best thing that ever happened to me. If you get in, it will change youre life, it did mine. Any other questions I can help with, just ask.
