I had to get my bike's wheels trued as they were wobbly, so decided to give Freewheel a shot as it seemed to have decent reviews and has been around for a long time. One of the guys at the shop, who is a veteran of the trade, took a look at it and said the bike needed some work on the wheels and brakes which would cost me $60. I agreed to it without haggling and came back the next day to pick up the bike, and he hit me with a bill for $75. When asked what the extra $15 was for, he said that its for the work that was done on the bike. I showed him the receipt with the estimate and scope of work he had written on it the day prior, and he begrudgingly agreed to charge me $60 in good faith but also told that he would never work on my bike again. Not sure where I was at fault, as he had inspected the bike prior to taking on the job and running up the charges. No extra equipment was installed, nor tuning or maintenance of the other parts was done. Overall, the shop has good technical expertise and turnaround time, but the generally rude and obnoxious attitude of this individual really left a sour taste in my mouth. Definitely never going back to this business again.

I am tired of going to bike shops and being talked down to as a non-man and someone who doesn’t speak “bike language” fluently. Although I got what I wanted I much prefer Swell Bikes in the sunset, there I feel respected. I do not plan on going back here. bummer!

Not at all happy with my experiences there. One of those shops that think it’s okay to snap at customers and be totally rude. I actually gave them a second chance after years of avoiding them due to another bad experience. I’d accept the rudeness if they made up for it with competence but they certainly don’t. Don’t have them build anything custom, they do what they want rather than following instructions. Asked for a freewheel road wheel and they built me a track wheel for a fixed gear. FAIL
