Omg the staff was amazing the dogs and cats are very well cared for. We had adopted tessa and she is an amazing dog. So loving and fun to be around and she loves people and giving kisses. If your looking for a lifelong friend go here. You will not be disappointed. If I could give 10 stars I would. She has so many toys to play with she did not know where to start. Her favorite is her crab. She knows how to sit and loves her treats. Going down stairs is another story but over time she will overcome her fear. Again to the staff here you guys are awesome. Thank you Robert Simpson

We adopted a dog from this shelter who ended up having a hind leg injury that was played off by the staff as paw discomfort due to the cement/woodchips they walk on. This was proven false by the vet, which is sad as the dog was in the shelter's care for 5 weeks and who knows when or how this injury happened. We think the pain of this injury and being in a home and playing with our other dog irritated the injury which then caused the new pup to be aggressive with our other dog. We would have never brought home an injured dog had we known the full circumstances. When dropping him off, I also fear they did not listen to our feedback and likely will not disclose this dog's full history (medical & behavioral) to the prospectove owners. I hope the best for him, but really would not recommend this shelter for many reasons. Our first rescue came from a shelter that has all their animals in foster care. This is the best way to go as there are more people looking out for the animals and the foster can give better insight into how the dog really is in a home environment, plus be able to spot any injuries.

A few months ago our family came in looking for a dog that could handle and love our 2 year old. The staff directed us to the storefront in the mall and told us all about Cuddle Bug. We went in and fell in love! The transition home and getting him comfortable was a challenge at first, but he has grown comfortable and confident in his new home. His new name is Baxter, after the town he came from, and he is best friends with our son. They are INSEPARABLE! I just wanted to share an update and let you know that he is happy, safe, and LOVED sooo much. Thank you for all of your help. This is our second adoption from your shelter and our second success story. We love this shelter and we will continue to come here for our animals. You are honest, caring, and affordable. It’s clear you care about the animals and not the profit. Thank you for all that you do for the animals in your care!

I loved this shelter because they really do care about their animals finding a home. They dont rush you and will tell you information about their pets. I adopted my girl Julie from this shelter. They were very informative and explained the behavior of my cat when I mentioned I wanted to adopt her. They didnt just hand her over but made sure I knew my cat's personality beforehand. This feline girl was described as spicy and needing special care and patience. It's been over a month and Julie has become a sweet and loving cat who loves to follow me around the house asking for pets. She also loves to sit on my lap while I watch TV. Thank you for helping me find my feline companion!

That is so great to hear! Thanks for being dedicated to rescue Karen!
Hi! We do not have a clinic on site so we do not offer those services at this time.
No. And there’s a girl with short hair there that is very rude. Doesn’t matter what you donate, she talks to you like you’re an idiot. Everyone else seems ok. They could be nicer. Poor pups.
No
No.
Thanks for thinking of us! here is our donation wishlist. https://orphansofthestorm.org/donate/wishlist/
No because you reliquish ownership and all rights to the dog.
Yes they will
Yes. The shelter is open today until 5PM, and reopens are 11AM tomorrow.
You would have to ask the employees of Orphans of The Storm.
I can't imagine them turning it away. Call them to check.
I'm not sure if they have small dogs that will get along with cats. I know they are waiving adoption fees now. We just adopted a dog that's very sweet
Hi Jamie, We do no offer boarding for animals at our location presently.
So sorry to hear of your loss, animals really do take a piece of our hearts with them when they go. All dogs on our website (orphansofthestorm.org) are currently at the shelter and looking for a home. The website is updated live so adopted dogs are removed and new ones added every day.
You can post on social media and there specific breed rescues.
Ask someone at the main campus in Deerfield.
We do! We'll put it to good use. Thank you for thinking of us.
Vicky, Sorry about the problem with the website. If you want to call us we can take the donation over the phone. Pam
The animals? I'm sure you can pay for them to have the vet test for allergies, but I'd call or email them to verify the cost
It depends on the dog. They are not trained unless they were trained by their previous owner.
Yes, they even have play areas
Move somewhere else where they’ll accept your family members
I think so call thay
Go there
And do it when people are there
It's a 90 adoption fee. they pay for neuter and you pay for updated shots and microchip at a vet office approximately 180 at vet. They also give you 2 weeks free vet care
Please call first
No but thay may know of were you can get 1
I think they are always looking for dog walkers to help exercise the dogs. I'd give them a call to make sure.
I don't know about dogs, but you can take home kittens the day of
Call and ask if they need volunteers to walk the dogs they would appreciate it
No, you need to call a wildlife rehab
I think so. Call and ask! They are super friendly
Larger shelter, so many options! Don't forget to check the large cat room with "older" cats. You can more easily assess their personality when they are out of kitten hood. all kittens are frisky :)
They don't use bedsheets but if you drop off newspapers for the kennels they needs lots of those and will greatly appreciate your donation
Yes, it's a fabulous no kill shelter for cats and dogs only.
