This place is in no way equipped to work with burn patients, you don’t do proper treatment of changing gauze or anything! If some was referred to you knowing their condition and you guys can’t take care of that you should let that hospital know, I now have a sister who has a infection who knows how long it was sitting in her body until she had to rushed back to the hospital, horrible place 0 stars ! ZERO

As much as I wanted to go home following my stroke, I waited at the hospital until a room became available to me at Ballard. Now, I understand that the care and treatment offered here is without equal. The demanding therapy is accompanied with lots of TLC from the nurses and staff. I feel renewed.

I was at a local hospital for 15 days and kept in bed for 11 days straight due to a fall and further complicated with breathing issues and fluid retention of my lower extremities. My situation was so severe, that I signed a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate Order). Arriving at Ballard changed all that! Upon my arrival, the RN’s and CNA’s made me feel comfortable and welcomed. The head of my nursing team, Ruth, and her staff went the extra mile to answer my questions, and with dignity, assisted me with my medical and personal needs. With a push of a button, I can request help from my Nurse (RN) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). I want to personally give a shout-out to my hard working RN’s (Stephanie, Jeanne, Allen and Natasha) and my over-worked CNA’s (Gene, Niva, Catina, and James). Due to limited space, I can’t mention all the other talented individuals who have helped, and continue to assist me in my recuperation. My Physical Therapy Lead, Emily, and her team (Hugo, James, Jasmine and Niqui) and so many others are very dedicated in my recuperation. The gym is filled with all kinds of nautilus type machines, free weights and other special devices used to improve our bodies and damaged limbs. But its the therapists here that tie it all together and make the miracles happen. One day, Emily and I invented a simulation designed represent my car door so we could have me practice climbing into my vehicle. This is innovative problem solving at it’s finest. Eventually we all have to go home and have to cope with doing the daily household chores that await us. My Occupational Therapist, Mei, and her crew not only provide us with special tools and gadgets to help us bathe and dress ourselves, but also instructed us on how to do so safely. My O.T. Team (Mary, Tina, Brenda… and the rest) use exercises and agility training to help us maneuver in simulated settings like: A fully stocked kitchen with all the appliances, a Bedroom setting, and a bath and shower mock-up. It is because of their hard work and and instruction that I feeling more confident in being able to take care of myself again and return to my independent lifestyle. As a diabetic patient with weight related issues, I have enjoyed a variety of nutritious and appealing meals here at Ballard. Our Dietician, William, met with me to discuss my nutritional needs and goals and he helped tailor a menu plan to get me there. With the help of the Dietary Manager, Elizabeth, and her kitchen staff, we have tasted some very good dishes. You can choose meals like: Lemon pepper chicken, beef tips, baked tilapia, with all the usual sides that you would normally have. But my favorite is still the BBQ chicken breast with a salad and Newman’s Balsamic vinaigrette dressing. You’ll love it too! The therapists will work you hard but we do get some playtime, if you’re up for it! We have a Therapeutic Recreational Coordinator, Charlotte, who works hard in getting us out of our rooms for fun. All in accordance with COVID-19 distance and safety standards, she offers us evenings with Bingo, Arts and Crafts and even movie night. You should not have to deal with all that bureaucratic red tape involving insurance issues, your job is to get better! My Case Manager, Eva, made my stay here pleasant and masterfully handled all my insurance issues that came up. She accurately and passionately battled for me to continue my healing and will help set up any home care or equipment that i may need to finish my recovery at home. She and the rest of the Case Managers here are Awesome! Finally you have to love the doctors here at Ballard. Its their attention to detail and putting the needs of the patient first is what makes this rehab hospital first rate. My doctors (Dr Chen, Dr Lee, Dr Sial, Dr Saluja and the rest) have proven to me that they truly care for us and go above and beyond so we get the best care possible. Don’t be surprised if one or two of them visit you each day just to give you updates on your care or just to see if you need anything. You will love this place.

So I have been here almost 2 weeks I am getting discharged tomorrow. My experience here at Ballard rehabilitation Hospital has been very uplifting. I use the word uplifting because I was involved in a motorcycle accident I’ve broke my pelvis and two places broke my left arm in three places and majorly fractured my right hand. I was ejected off my motorcycle distance to 50 feet so I’m not supposed to be alive. Needless to say I was already in the hospital for almost a month prior to coming to Ballard, so my spirits were not the highest at that time. I got here on a Saturday by Monday morning I was telling the nursing staff that I want to have my outpatient rehab at this facility. That’s because the nursing staff Are very respectful and you can tell they really care about your recovery and your safety and that they really love what they do. A few hours later I was having my first session of rehab and ever since the first session every session that I have had, has been very rewarding. The rehab staff also known as therapy staff are very experienced and knowledgeable of what they are doing and they A very respectful. The only complaint I have is with the Wi-Fi. I definitely recommend anyone who needs rehab to come to Ballard.

Is there only the one location or are there multiple locations?

Bobbi Meyer | Sep 8, 2018
Ballard Rehabilitation Hospital | Sep 8, 2018

Bobbi, We have one inpatient location in San Bernardino and two out patient locations (one in San Bernardino, the other in Apple Valley) that will help transition patients back into the community once inpatient needs have been met and it is safe to discharge home. Thank you!

What is the rating on this facility? I understand they are a hardcore staff. Would my 93 year Mother who has just had surgery for a broken hip be able to go through this treatment?

Bobbi Meyer | Sep 8, 2018
Ballard Rehabilitation Hospital | Sep 8, 2018

Hi Bobbi, Our outcomes are at the top of not just the region, but the entire nation. Each patient’s care plan is tailored by a multidisciplinary staff made up of physicians, nurses, and therapists. Each patient will receive three hours of daily therapy. The intensity levels of the therapy will vary depending on the patient’s capabilities and will be increased as their stay progresses. A licensed clinician will evaluate your mother prior to admission and assess her functional levels, as federal guidelines dictate the criteria required to enter acute rehab. Thanks!

Hello, Patients at Ballard are either assigned a private room or a semi-private room with no more than one other patient. Our semi-private rooms are assigned to match gender and any isolation needs. We encourage you to come in for a tour and view our rooms in person. They are very large, providing privacy and ability to maneuver for all patients. Thank you!
