Overall, I had a poor experience. Don’t spend the money for day use, you’ll be disappointed. The beach is tiny and is extremely hostile guests claiming the space with chairs and towels even though they aren’t there. The $25 fee covers includes nothing, not even access to the beach. The fee says it includes the use of the grill when it doesn’t, that’s an extra $10 for dirty grills that don’t work. They are maniacs about parking, their check in process is longer than international TSA and their system is set up to test any and all patience you didn’t realize you needed for a recreational outing. The gentleman who helped with the boat rentals- taught us to drive, pushed us out and received the boat, (and did groundskeeping) was the only customer service minded staff person and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed (honestly, I think he was over correcting for the rest of the staff being rude). I wanted a special outing for my family and splurged over $700 and was treated like a nuisance and criminal. I highly recommend the front office shadow him for a day and learn how to make people (guests) feel appreciated and how to foster a fun environment.

Our stay was ok. I will preface with that we only stayed 1 night and did not have time to use the lake. We arrived around 10:00pm, maybe a little before. The office was shut down. We had to call a ring doorbell to gain access to our room. It might have said that somewhere when I booked, but I did not see it. I was not looking for it though because I've never had someone not be there when checking in. I understand that this is a small establishment, but it just felt odd. It was also very difficult to hear what they were saying. Plus all of the guests outside hear what room you are in if you use the ring. It just didn't feel like the best start. Know that there is no food around so if you are coming in late, stop ahead of time. We ate out of the vending machine for dinner which ending up working just fine. The rooms are bare and to be honest, didn't feel clean. There were bugs everywhere in the bathroom, which I get. We are right on a lake, but the towels had holes in them and we only had 2 big towels. Under the bed was disgusting. The curtains do not properly block out the light from the front porch. There needs to be another shade. This hotel worked for 1 night, but I probably would choose something else the next time I'm in the area. The lake was gorgeous though. That is the main selling point.

I was very unhappy with my stay. To start things off both the side tables were covered in dust, there was hair stuck to the wall in the shower/in the drain, mold in the shower, and a poor sweep job. On top of that when making the reservation there was a pet fee wasn't add to the original payment, we were not made aware of until after we paid. We received a call from the front desk saying they were going to charge an additional $140, I told her that it didn’t come up when I made/paid the reservation. She told me over the phone and in person that I would not be charged for the amount. The next morning when dropping off my keys I was told I would be charged for fee, I brought up that I was told by the other woman said I wouldn’t be charged and she was going to put my dogs under as “service dogs” The manager texted the other women, she of course lied and said she didn’t say that. I called later that day and spoke with the same woman from the previous night and she said she “didn’t want to start anything and just wanted to get off”. Long story short worst hotel experience I’ve had.

The Lodge at Blue Lakes is an excellent place for a nice rest. The boat rentals are an added bonus. The staff is great and the rooms are very comfortable. Take a few days around the area and make this your home base for an enjoyable time.

No, not at the hotel itself, unless it is small enough to carry. You can launch boats at other locations on the lake. Specifically the 3 campgrounds. The easiest is at La Trianon. The other ramps are sometimes tricky to maneuver on with larger vehicles and boats.
Yes,across the street is the private beach and fishing area for only the residents and it is very beautiful.
The Scratch Band is having their reunion concert tomorrow, Sept. 14th, at 7 PM - 10 PM at The Lodge at Blue Lakes Special Events Center. Join us!

The fishing is really good. You can hire a permit and a boat too.
