After the old guard of EH staff departed or retired and the new combination with Planning and Building was accomplished, the new and few people that were hired on apparently did not have the background or expertise to maintain the programs. EH was essentially demolished by county management and the BOS and diminished in function. It is a shadow, if that, of what it once was in Mendocino County. There is no longer a Director of EH in Mendocino County nor knowledgeable EHS's. If they are knowledgeable, they probably won't stay working for Mendo County very long. The cost of living here is not comparable salary-wise.
