Very very disappointing customer service with very little flexibility in terms of timings. I arrived at 3 30 PM for a 3 45 PM appointment for my father in law's driving test. It took me around 10 minutes to find the Car registration in our car's dashboard. By then, we were told we needed to re register for another appointment. This lack of flexibility in timings suggests customer service that leaves much to be desired. I will not be back to this drivers' license center.

The DMV in Gettysburg has never taken very long to get me in and out quickly no matter when I go or what I'm doing. I always thought it was funny how the DMV is made out to be a nightmare place where people wait in line after line just to be in the wrong line. Last time I went, I think there were 2 lines, each were for different purposes, and the wait wasn't awful - no more than 20 minutes. Seems bad maybe but that's the worst it's ever been for me. I probably wouldn't go on a Saturday though - I never have, but I'm guessing that's their busier day (just a guess) since people probably try to hit it while they're off work and school. So, my answer: Any day but Saturday (if you can help it) and try being there a little before 8:30 when they open - their hours are: Tuesday - Saturday, 8:30 am - 4:15 pm, Closed Sunday & Monday, Holidays vary.

Yes , you can take the written test today. I believe until 4:00 pm or 4:15 pm. I would try to arrive no later than 3:45 pm considering it is a test and you will have to allot for time.

You will need to have a driving permit physical (most any walk-in clinic or your Dr can do it), your Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, and 2 proofs of you address (something with your name and address that has come thru the mail), and a check or money order for $35.50 for when you pass the knowledge test.
