As with most businesses greed gets in the way. Switched many years ago, small local business saying they would be better. The last few years have shown staying local and loyal isn't better for the customer. Just a customer getting fleeced close to home. Brought my parents over years ago without any referral reward or incentive. Incurred late fees twice when on auto pay, simply asked to call when processing card, those fees were never reversed. Being kind doesn't always work. Phelan Gas is overcharging and has been the last few years. Propane is NOT gasoline. They're different. 3/4 of propane comes from natural gas processing. US produces so much propane we export, so no shortage. The EIA, government site that provides national averages, over the years has been well under the rates charged. Staying local doesn't always benefit the customer. I will be definitely looking to switch, parents as well. Paying over $350 a month to keep the heat going is outrageous. Seniors get a 5 cent discount. So basically about 1/3 of a retired persons income each month goes to heat. And yes thermostats are kept low. I gave 2 stars because the drivers have always been friendly. Update: Thanks for the response and outlining many of your business costs. It seems just about every commodity/service is at an all time high and customer service at an all time low. Every individual understands costs have gone UP over the past 12/18 months. Households understand that even more so because they're feeling squeezed from every direction and struggling. My review is based on years of service and monitoring with EIA. (Not just the last year. Few years= 3+more). We are on monthly fill, that has NOT kept bills level. I did visit the office recently, and let the employee know we were struggling. There wasn't a single mention of working with us to make any type of arrangement as you mention. In the past the office has said "if there is a balance we can't deliver". To me that really doesn't sound like working with ANY customer. The office did mention level pay is coming but still many months away, so basically...wait. I have tried to be communicative and tried available options. The employee also quoted a price/gallon when we had just paid MORE, then backpedaled when I questioned. Am I frustrated, yes, and concerned that our price was somehow different, you bet! When there are inconsistencies that just doesn't sit well with anyone.

This company is a gem! They listened to my need, which is unique and other companies were quick to get me off the phone. Phelan Gas Co pays attention to all details, puts a plan together and executes. Thank you Phelan Gas for being so amazing.

I moved in had 20 gallons in the tank per the driver added 100 gallons and in 7 days I ran out of propane. I called around and asked other company’s what the normal usage was and where my thermostat was at 65 and they all said it was impossible. I have super insulated house brand new windows and don’t even use it for cooking. When the driver delivered it the truck was on the other side of the gate and and there’s no way he could of seen the meter, was there less than 5 minutes. I got another 100 gallons and It’s a month later and I still am at 40%. Complete rip off. Wish I had my cameras in then. After all that it took me 3 phone calls to get a copy of my receipts . $784 I spent in total. Lawsuit for sure

If I could give 0 stars I would. Used this company for under a year. Asked phelan propane to pick up their tank before a year was up. Phelan gas then decides to leave me a message asking why I decided to stop services. I just ignored the message because it didn't matter. I just wanted to end services. Instead, they decide to leave tank on my property for an additional 3 months. In the meanwhile sending me their yearly tank rental fee. I left them multiple messages to take their tank off my property. They continue sending me a bill monthly. I finally left them a message saying I gave the tank away so then they come on my property without notifying me to take back their tank when I was at work. In short if you want to deal with a dishonest company with lazy employees that try to swindle you, call phelan propane. I'd suggest using other propane services in phelan, definitely. Save your time, trouble, and hassle and use another propane service in phelan. I rarely write reviews but I feel the general public should know when a company is dishonest and mistreats their customers.
