Gretna USPS really needs an upgrade. The Gretna zip code is growing fast. The physical office is small, dirty and chronically understaffed. Our home mail delivery is mishandled too frequently. Neighbors one-two blocks away getting their stuff delivered to us on the regular. I once mis-delivered what was obviously a bill to a home across town because golden rule. I’ve lived all over the USA and I’ve never experienced such poor service from the USPS - which is saying something.

I hate to give a bad review for this post office, as the people are exceptionally friendly. However, the loss of mail and misdelivery of mail in customer's post office boxes has gone beyond an inconvenience for me. I am currently missing two items. (it's been WAY more than that over time) One is a Christmas card from a friend who has asked me if I received the gift card inside the card. I never received the card. While this in itself is frustrating to have a friend spend money for a gift card, I can move on with my life without it. But, something more serious and heartbreaking has occurred. A relative sent me a package on December 17, she lived in Colorado. I knew she sent it as she asked me to be on the lookout for it. Well, she passed away unexpectedly on December 22. I wanted that package like you wouldn't believe. It was simply a calendar, one she made, but damm I didn't receive it. You have no idea how angry and heartbroken I am about this. I am tired of going to my box continually and getting other people's mail in it. How difficult is it to put the correct mail in the correct box????? I use this post office as it's convenient to my work, and I prefer not using my home address. However, as soon as there is a UPS store, or some other entity, in Gretna where I can get a mail box, I will leave this post office.

The woman who was working at the front the day I came in was super friendly and kind to me, especially with answering some questions of mine since I was shipping packages out of state. She was great to work with and I'm glad she was there since she mentioned she mainly worked in the back of the post office!

I have lived in Gretna for 4 years. Worst delivery service EVER! They always have an excuse of why they didn’t deliver my mail for days and weeks at a time. I have called directly to the post office and they have nothing but excuses. I have filed 3 complaints on line and Mike calls back with nothing but more excuses. Yesterday he told me that his carrier doesn’t get out of his vehicle so if there’s a little snow on the ground and the carrier cannot reach my box from the opposite side of his vehicle they will not deliver. What’s there motto, we deliver rain, snow etc. That’s definitely not true! The other day I found some of my mail from 2017 in a mailbox that they know has not been used for years. I called this post office yesterday since I have not received any mail this month. There first excuse was that there was too much snow, now it’s the flood waters. Yes our road was closed for about a week but we have no water now. Mike stated that he drove out there and I have water next to my box and that whoever fixed the road needs to put rock by it. I told him to bring that up with the roads dept. it’s not my responsibility but his responsibility is to deliver my mail. I have a picture of my road from yesterday with no water by the mail box. (I do not know how to post to this). He’s very rude and doesn’t care if the carriers deliver our mail or not. The hours they are open is when I work, he expects me to take time off from my job to drive and pick up my mail! Something needs to be done with the management!

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to get a p.o. box without a i.d. or proof of address? I'm homeless and in desperate need of a place to have emergency mail sent to so I'm not starving and get a place to live.

You need an ID. You can get more info by googling homeless no ID. Good luck. You dont need a po box to get mail delivered to the general mail of that city and you pick it up they usually will hold mail for 30 days but you need an ID to pick it up so.. get that ID
