Really a nice place. Definitely will be back.. Simple, with just enough amenities to keep everyone entertained. Spacious campsites and not far from the river. Kids had a blast.

A good campground to go an unplug, not really that you have a choice in that. No cell service in the cooks forest area, so you kinda have to rely on wifi. The campground states they have wifi but it disconnects almost every 5 mins. I know this may seem not a big deal, but when you come to enjoy the activities in the area and can't even make a simple phone call to set a time for the activity, that kinds stinks. Don't recommend staying here if you need to somewhat stay connected to the outside world. We did have one issue while saying here, the power breaker we were hooked up to, was bad and our power kept going out. We were greatful the staff assisted quickly and the issue was resolved. Our site, site 29 was an ok site. The site was close to the playground, which was nice and not to far from the pool. The trees surrounding the site were the most pitiful looking things. They were dying and looked like all the branches had been chopped off 25 ft high. Needless to say they were big naked toothpicks swaying in the wind. The campground is very clean and well maintained. The pool was well maintained and clean also. I do recommend checking out their Fore Fun. The arcade is nice and the ice-cream is massive and tasty. You don't have to stay at the campground to enjoy the arcade which is nice. All in all cheap nice campground but don't stay here if you need to communicate with civilization.

I took all the stars away. Not because I am giving a bad rating but because I don't want to rate it at all. We have a very good time here. My boys love this place. Now we can't go to this place because of a misunderstanding ( I feel like I can't). We wasn't even there. Sometimes things are a coincidence and not as they seem. Edit ok I put the Stars back you can keep them.

We spent a weekend here because the Cook Forest state campground, where we usually camp, was full. There were only two open sites, so I figured we would have a poor site. Quite the contrary, I think we got the best site in the campground. We're pop up owners and camp for quiet and nature, so we typically prefer state park campgrounds to the crowded, seasonal-campers-in-a-field experience offered by many private campgrounds. Most of the sites here, honestly, are like that, although all sites are at least shaded with trees. But around the edges, there are some nice sites with space around them. The back bath house was clean and had private shower/bathroom combos with exterior entrances, as opposed to a larger room with stalls. They get quite stuffy though, as they have no exhaust fans. There's a laundry facility. Since most of the campers had bathrooms, the bath house was not overly busy. There are typical campground showers at the front, attached to the store, as well. The store is small, but well-stocked, with the usual prices. I have to say, if you have kids, this place is great. Our 10 year old loved the huge, clean pool. Mini golf was especially nice. It and the arcade are a short walk away and reasonably priced. Ice cream cones there are huge! The weekend we were there, they gave out corn on the cob and popped popcorn for everyone. The playground is really appealing. There are "train" rides and fire truck rides on weekends. Having said all that, these extras do come with a price, and it is more expensive than some. We would definitely return as long as we could get a site like the one we had.
