I have been training at K I Salem since this past year, and I don't think it can get any better than this. Both Sensei John and Sensei Jordyn teach not only the movements but also the art and strength behind each block, punch, and kick. Don't be fooled when you see punching bags and a boxing ring- they also have Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, kickboxing, and after-school programs. Another thing that I really appreciate is the dedication of both senseis to karate- they will use any and all means necessary to ensure discipline and form. They teach Karate not as a martial art, but as an art, which is very different from other dojos. This is an amazing place to practice Karate, MMA, or even just to exercise. I highly recommend K I Salem to people of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds.

I have trained with Sensei John Polanco at KI Salem for nearly 10 years. In that time I have seen the dojo grow from a small group of students in a basement to the fantastic program that stands today. Whether you are looking for a program for your child or you are looking to pursue martial arts for yourself, Sensei Johnny and the entire KI Salem family provide a safe, family-friendly environment. There are separate classes for children and adults, along with different classes in karate, jiu jitsu, and kickboxing. Sensei Johnny has been practicing martial arts for over 25 years; his ability and patience combine to make him an outstanding teacher. Unlike other programs that offer "blends of different styles", KI Salem keeps each martial art discipline separate. This is done to preserve the integrity of each style while also recognizing that different students may have different interests. KI Salem also provides a great after school program that helps children take the deep principles of discipline, focus, and good character and apply them to all aspects of life. If you've read this far, do yourself a favor and call Sensei Johnny to arrange an appointment to see the dojo and meet the students. You may just find it'll change your life like it did for me.

My daughter loves it here. She started in February and I believe it was a great decision we made. She has learned a lot in this small amount of time. Everyone that works there is super nice and welcoming . :)

No. The karate is GojuRyu style offers both kids and adults.l from 3 or 4 to 80 or 100 as long as you are active. Mostly adults and young adults practice Jujitsu. It also offers day care with martial arts. It's very family oriented. One does not only train martial art but also ascertain discipline, self esteem, focus, control, balance etc. People mostly think martial art is merely physical. This is partially true. Most of the benefit of martials actually lie in its mind and spirit in addition to body.
