I was in this hospital when I was a kid & when I was last in a hospital like this. The experience was horrible. They made me stay in a room all alone the whole time I was there. The staff were okay. But, all they did for me here was send me to another hospital. Horrible experience. Glad I am not going back & I am better than ever!!!

Went here over two years ago, still can’t think about it without instant anxiety and feeling nauseous. Obviously with the other reviews on here, this place needs to be shut down or completely re-evaluated. I was a voluntary admitted patient and after 4 days there I was desperate to leave, when I voiced these concerns and begged my lead “doctor” to leave, the “doctor” threatened my parents that I would be there 3 days extra if they tried to sign me out. The nurses told me and girls in there aged 14-18 to shut up. My doctor was horrible, got me confused with another patient when I was dancing in the day room and tried to diagnose them with bipolar thinking it was me. Funny fact is neither me or the mistaken patient have bipolar at all. Terrible place.

Horrific, traumatizing experience. This facility should be shut down. I was taken to this place under a false IVC order from GPD in September 2021. Dr. Clary is a liar and a disgrace to the medical profession. He should be fired and his license should be revoked or suspended. Proper safety procedures were ignored by all staff members and my HIPPA rights were violated by Rodney(Tech) who called someone on his cell phone to ask if they knew me!!! I was held down by 4 staff members and given two injections that I refused. State law requires that all IVC's be held for a minimum of 72hrs, I was released after 34hours once I was able to finally get a staff member to allow me to speak to the facility director. I am now stuck with a bogus diagnosis on my medical records as well as a $5000K medical bill that I refuse to pay. This facility also billed for 72 hours, which is medical billing fraud, although I was only there( against my will) for 34hours. No stars are deserved but forced one star in order to post review

I've been here multiple times over a few years, maybe 4 or 5 times. About two months ago I had gone in, and a doctor I had seen there years ago was still getting complaints, now from every single youth patient. A month later I was admitted for an overdose, and every single youth patient (completely different patients from the ones a month before) were complaining about the same Doctor. Doctor J, the weekday doctor, was impatient, interrupting, abrasive, insensitive, and patronizing to every patient. Multiple cried over his rude, demanding questioning of very sensitive types of trauma. His impatience led to having a hard time explaining multiple problems, because he made it blatantly obvious that you are wasting his time and he'd rather be done. It was every weekday, every morning. He just wanted to get paid and leave. He received constant complaints from the patients, which were brushed off by other staff, if they weren't entirely blaming the patients for being sensitive to his "blunt way of speaking". The staff would push the patients to stop sharing their complaints, in some kind of anti-union tactic to keep them from bringing complaints to a higher-up. It has been maybe 2-3 years that it's been like this, and the comments have only been getting worse and more frequent. Patients have been ignored thus far. Some nurses were kind, patient, and fair, and followed their policies as employees without issue. Others refused to use post-transition names or pronouns despite the release forms being signed by parents in order for their trans child to be addressed correctly(on this topic, there was also one trans patient that was allowed to be treated with peers of their gender, while other trans patients were put in the group of their incorrect birth gender). Some enforced rules that didn't seem thus far to exist, such as having to sleep with the door open. I spent hours sobbing because of how exhausted I was, and being unable to fall asleep was horrible. Basically every other nurse would close your door back quietly after the 15 minute check ins, until they knew you were asleep. That is not the only thing that is unevenly enforced by staff. One patient across the hall from me was actively having a panic attack over having to be isolated asked me to bring them to a nurse for help. The nurse was rude and impatient, and demanded they go back to their room. I was struggling with frightening hallucinations that were heightened by the overdose, and I was not given any help besides attitude-filled comments about how "[I] know nothing is really there". Anyone who's experienced hallucinations can tell you, it doesn't matter whether or not you know it's there. It's still going to be scary to deal with in a silent room all by yourself. If you have a child, especially a trans child, or a child with difficult trauma or strong mental illnesses, I suggest with heavy urgency you find somewhere else for their sake.

You can go to Come Hospital or Wesley Long to get evaluated. Bed space is limited. They receive calls from all over the East coast. There are several programs in the Out Patient Center that you may be able to attend including referrals.

Are they accepting of transgender individuals here? If so, how are they housed/treated compared to cisgender patients? (Do they address them by their preferred name and gender?)

Nagito Komaeda | Sep 5, 2021

(From my trans child, who went through treatment there) They're very dodgy on the subject. They're only truly accepting if you pass well. Otherwise, they're somewhat dismissive of the entire subject, especially during group interaction with other patients. You're allowed to stay in your preffered gender hall ONLY if you pass, your parent signs on it, and you can't reproduce (I'm sterile due to Testosterone treatment).
