Terrible staff honestly

My father was sent to ICU from Wingate days after he fell in a botched transfer from Mercy, against my protest that something was wrong and pointing it out to his doctor. But Mercy didn't care, my father needed ambulation and diaper changes and they suspended our rights and coordinated a botched transfer at night, in the cold and rain. Mercy ad him dangerously medicated. He was an extreme fall risk, and within 8 hours of arriving he had no bed alarm and fell. He passed blood clots for the next days, but they put him on the treadmill for rehab...within a day or two he then developed a hematoma in his mouth the size of a plum, he had head trauma and was covered in bruises when they brought him to Baystate. Within hourse he was in ICU, severed an artery in his tongue and barely lived, but he suffered another month or so, unable to breathe, eat, drink or sleep. I was injured when we both fell when I lifted his wheelchair..I was going weeks without sleep and he was air thirsting. They had to put him on chemo (Baystate, without notice or consent) and I'm still struggling with that injury. But my father deserved better. Wingate was alerted shortly after...by the VA, since they are a VA contracted facility and my father was a vet. Hopefully they filed my father's fall and death with the state.

The staff at Wingate Springfield is very special. The aides and nurses treated my mom as if she were their mom. She was attended to promptly and kept clean at all times. And while the facility may not be the newest and most extravagant, it always smelled clean.
